http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...ly-promotion/story-29126804-detail/story.html HULL City boss Steve Bruce is urging supporters to form a united front during the final weeks of a season that could yet end with promotion to the Premier League. City have almost guaranteed their place in the Championship play-offs thanks to a dramatic 2-1 victory over Wolves on Friday night, but there continues to be an air of disgruntlement hanging over the KC Stadium after falling short in the pursuit of a top-two finish. A crowd of just 15,504 were in attendance to see the Tigers record a 21st win of the season – the third lowest gate of the campaign – and unrest was again apparent on the terraces until Robert Snodgrass' free-kick rescued another poor performance at the death. "I don't know why we have an atmosphere in the stadium like we have. We have lost once all season at home," said Bruce, whose side remain 10 points adrift of the automatic promotion places after wins for Middlesbrough and Burnley on Saturday. "When you are up against it as a player, you need the supporters to rally around you. I can understand there wasn't too much to shout about (on Friday) but we need their help, too. "We have been winning all season here, apart from the last few weeks. And winning more comprehensively. There aren't many with a better home record than us. I am not whingeing but we need their help, too. "The doom and gloom we have around the gaff really disappoints and frustrates me. "The picture can change with two more games this week. We go to Reading tomorrow and then Leeds come here on Saturday. It is still all to play for. We will never give it up." City were found wanting in large parts of Friday's game once Dave Edwards had cancelled out Adama Diomande's early opener and a laboured second-half display heard a number of fans voicing their displeasure. Bruce's decision to replace Moses Odubajo with eventual matchwinner Snodgrass was jeered, before Sam Clucas' withdrawal drew sarcastic applause from sections of the crowd. "I couldn't understand that reaction," added Bruce. "All we did was try and bring another attacking player on. We took a defender off to do so and there were jeers when he came on." City have five games remaining, including three at home, to lift spirits ahead of a likely play-off campaign next month. Tomorrow night's trip to Reading precedes Saturday's derby with Leeds United and the Tigers will aim to build momentum on the back of Snodgrass' winner against Wolves. "That shows the character we will need," said Bruce. "It also surely puts to bed all this nonsense that the players don't care. "All of a sudden, people seem to think we have a divine right to march through the division. Yes, we have a good squad but so do a lot of other teams. "It has never been easy in this division. We have seen some big clubs have some big struggles. This is a reality check. "It has been tough over the last few weeks and we are all disappointed. But we have to roll our sleeves up, batten down the hatches and get on with it. We tried our best because we know what we have got is a good squad. They have just lost a bit of form at the moment.
Shameful that clucas was jeered. However you can't expect a crowd to be up for it when they're served dross from start to finish. We look like a team who haven't played together before it's utterly baffling.
Can we start a petition to hang the ****s who cheered Clucas going off? Or maybe we could start a justgiving page for a decent charity and all donate if any of the knuckle draggers willingly commit suicide.
There will be even more depressed supporters at the kc on saturday. Blame the ****ing owners Mr Bruce not the fans
its definitely a knock on from everything else that is happening at the club. people are angry and upset and maybe taking it out on the wrong people, but emotions are running high, nearly all negative emotions!
I get the sense he's blaming them as much as he can. Walking a fine line, but the mention of the fans certainly won't help him.
Im thinking of wearing a leeds scarf and cheering on TWS in the hope we blow a play off place and in doing so we guarantee Allams scheme flops even more.
While I blame the owner's for creating the mess the clubs in, SB must take his share of the blame with the dross he's serving up on the pitch and to cap it, he comes on radio and admits that with 5 games to go he doesn't know his best team, you couldn't make it up if you tried.
I am almost hoping against promotion so our owners can watch their investment ****ing rot. I also hope sales in marine generators fall off a ****ing cliff the cock ends.
Perhaps it would have been better if a Hull City supporter had asked him questions and questioned his statements with more reality to events on and off the pitch. Bruce criticised the name-change campaign, he said it was a distraction, he can't have it both ways, the owners couldn't be any more distracting and the football isn't exactly riveting - unless you have a morbid sense of curiosity.
There are very few manager's with big squads who know their best team. If you ask Wenger, Hiddink, Vamn Gaal, Klopp or Pellegrini they wont know. The exceptions are Spurs and Lester.
I was absolutely furious at certain"fans" jeering Clucas on Fri pm. I'm also getting fed up with people complaining about Meyler. Granted he's not the sort of player who gets you on the edge of your seat, but when he's not on the pitch he is definitely missed!!!
Fair enough, but at championship level with 5 games to go he should know his best 11, I could accept it if we were 5 games into a new season, Burnley, Brighton and Boro appear to know there best 11.
It's a catch 22 situation, yes the supporters need to get behind the team and be more vocal, but the supporters also need some excitement to generate truly passionate support
Sadly Bruce's tactical ability and man management has been found out this season, actually it was pretty poor last season also.
I dont know why 'not knowing your best 11' is a criticism. We shouldnt have a best 11, we should have a best 15 that we rotate depending on fitness, suspension, form and the opposition.
I also read it as the opposite, but more so aimed at the owners indirectly. He's getting his ducks in a row so he can refer to this when he walks away at the end of the season (hopefully)!
I agree, he is Clueless, but I would never jeer any City player under any circumstances. The most I would do is aim a few expletives in the direction of Elmo when he falls over like a clown attempting to gain free kicks
