Here's a headache I didn't think we'd have a few months ago, for two reasons - Sturridge would have to be fit, and not many thought Origi was quite ready yet.

Now here we are, Sturridge has stayed fit for more than two games, and Origi has hit 4 in 3 games and 9 for the season. Klopp's preferred formation appears to be a 4-2-3-1 with three creative players behind a lone CF, which for now means it may be one or the other to lead the line.

Sturridge is clearly not 100%, for me he needs a pre-season behind him, and has to be managed up until then. I'm not on the bandwagon that he's lazy and we should sell him in the Summer, in my opinion he's still getting to grips with his body, building himself up to where he was and that may take time, you can see the quality is still there but he looks a man lacking a bit of confidence, if only we had someone who could take the pressure off him..

Which brings me nicely to Origi, not many thought he'd be the Belgian CF to be the surprise package of the season, but after a run of games he clearly has a lot more to his game than some thought, including me. With an increase in muscle mass, he's a boy playing with extreme confidence, holding the ball up no matter how it comes better than Benteke could, and is worth pointing out he's playing intelligently, making smart runs and working the channels which may explain Klopp's decision to lead with him the last few games. Can shoot with both feet, he's fast, but still raw and still a young man.

For me, right now, Origi has to be starting ahead of Sturridge, the lad suits our team better at the moment, he's not quite as skilful as the former but he's certainly developing rapidly.

Been saying Origi for the past few weeks. Sturridge isn't as good as he was and Origi is showing some ability ontop of his work ethic.

It's not even a close contest.

Sturridge came in and change the game:Depending on whether we are playing one or two strikers.

origi is the form player, but depends on the opo and the type of game we need to play.

shame we cant accommodate the 2 of them and see how that develops as obviously studge prefers a partner.

Given that Klopp prefers 4231, if both Origi and Sturridge start, then one has to play out wide.

Klopp rarely goes to the diamond but when he does, it gets the best out of Sturridge.

I'm just enjoying the fact that we have two quality strikers - Origi - what a transformation. He's essentially doing what we expected from Benteke lol. This kid can save us a ton of money in the future.

I don't think Klopp will bring in a striker - I think he will look to improve the attacking trio in behind the striker. Origi, Sturridge, Firmino and potentially Gotze can play up front.

Origi is in form at the moment. Keep him going, nice to have some healthy competition up top.

Origi is a player Klopp will mould. It's already clear he wants a player who can hold the ball up and one who will always put the work in. We criticise certain young lads for poor attitude, a lack of willingness to learn etc so it's only right to praise the kid who comes in and work's at his game and adapts. If he keeps up this form it will be up to the others to try and dislodge him.

Sturridge on the other hand is a player who needs to be handled with kid gloves for the rest of the season. One start a week max, try and get him through to the last game without injury then just pray Woy doesn't **** up all the hard work <whistle>

Origi seems to have every thing. He is the perfect style for a Klopp number 9.

£10m for his potential is looking good!

I think just give origi time. we've 3 league games coming up in short order. We can't burn the kid out so i think both will play different games at different times.

    I'd start sturridge v bournemouth.

ok but dont start winging like a girl when we get one of them injured playing in a league game and it fecks us up for europa as then we will have to rely on benteke :emoticon-0172-mooni

bring on sturridge and it gives him motivation to prove to the manager he should be starting and gets fitness up, and also same with benteke starting it might make him perform better and either make him easier to sell or make klopp think dif about him, thats my thinking behind it.

    i won't dont worry.

there is no other players to play. benteke is unknown timeline, firmino is only back from injury so both sturridge and origi will play over next week.

    Sturridge to start this weekend.

    origi on bench.

Allen to start, stewart to start, lallan to start for sure.

the main question i would have in my mind would be on full backs.they played dortmund, sotke, dortmund. the question would be does a flanagan or smith come in?

Had everyone written off Origi before Christmas or something? The lad always had potential. I harp on about it, but his performance at the WC was brilliant and the reason we bought him. You could see how much promise he had from then but because he didn't bang them in, either in France or here, people decided he wasn't good enough. I will concede that his physical side has seriously improved since Klopp came in and being able to knock it long for him to hold up is another massive tool we have, but the other side of his game - speed, running channels or beyond the defender - has always been there, inconsistently at least. He's basically the player Benteke should have been right now and Klopp will bring him on even more.

Sturridge or/and Origi? Depends on the opposition if you want both or one, but right now, that lone forward has got to be Origi. I agree with others that after a full, uninterrupted pre-season, Sturridge should get back to his best and most likely would be out first choice. But a good choice to have!

The only player I have written off completely in the last few years who's proving me wrong is Allen. That's not to say that I now think he's good enough to be a starting player for us moving forward, but he's our best midfielder now (aside from when Can is on form) and if he stays like this, will be a valuable squad player - but I don't think he wants to settle for that.

They could form a formidable partnership imo. The only thing they lack is a real threat in the air.

Let them compete and against certain teams play both.

    Lets not forget Firmino though.

Origi, Sturridge, Firmino and Ings look good for next season. Lets improve that midfield and see what those 4 can do.

If you want to support a team that comes nowhere in the league for the sake of a cup semi then try Everton <ok>
