This Friday is the 27th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster, in which 96 fans lost their lives.

This comes from the lfc website:

"This year is an extremely significant landmark for the families and all affected by the tragedy as it marks the conclusion of the Hillsborough inquests and also sees the final memorial service to be held at Anfield.

The service will commence at 2.45pm prompt, with access to the stadium possible from 1pm. A one-minute silence will be observed at 3.06pm and the service will conclude at around 3.45pm with the singing of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’."

What can I say on top of this so this thread is intended just as a spot for those who wish to say something

    http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/ann...llsborough-memorial-service-details-announced

A memorial service at Anfield stadium in April 2016, in memory of 96 football fans who died in the Hillsborough tragedy, will be the final one, it has been announced. Memorial services have been held at Liverpool's stadium almost every year for the past 26 years since the disaster.
The decision to bring the Anfield services to a close was made by the Hillsborough Families Support Group (HFSG) following consultation with the relatives of those who died. The families agreed that the service, to be held on the 27th anniversary, will be the last.

Margaret Aspinall, chairwoman of the HFSG, said: "The 96 will never be forgotten. This final memorial service will provide the families with some closure."

It's always emotional at The Hillsborough Memorial Service but this year being the last will be sorrow and celebration rolled into one, it's taken a lot of years and tears for the families of the 96 to finally feel they can let their loved ones rest in peace and their admirable and worthy fight for justice finally came to fruition at the new inquests in Warrington.
The truth was always out there but those in authority kept silent until they were shamed into saying what happened, some still clinging to the myth it was down to the supporters even though Duckenfield admitted he mistakenly opened the gates without thinking of the consequences of his actions.

Some of the Hillsborough families have sadly passed away including the fantastic Margaret Aspinall who will be forever remembered for her fight for justice for her son and her brave battle with cancer at the same time.
I feel humble and fortunate to be going on Friday to pay my respects to the 96, their families and friends and all the people not related to the families and in some cases not even LFC supporters involved in the long fight for justice.

    RIP.

Has there been any indication as to when there will be a tribunal decision?

Impeccably observed silence tonight from what I could tell. Klopp also mentioned the memorial service to German TV, not getting carried away with the win.

It was perfect mate....you could hear a pin drop <ok>

Can't tell you how emotional today has been...the polar opposite of the last round with the hateful United fans spewing their bile. The last two days the entire city buzzing with German fans, mingling and talking footy, the place awash with excitement over what is "just a game". As a scouser, if you didn't love the Germans before this week then you sure as hell do now <laugh> My respect for their fans has increased even further. Passionate, respectful, forthright, intelligent. So many similarities (to the Red half of Merseyside <whistle> ).

I was chatting to a friend before the game and we were (mournfully/respectfully) discussing how results over recent years have dropped whenever the anniversary has come around. It seems to have weighed so heavily on the club and players that performances have reflected the occasion. Today seemed like history repeating...the first fifteen minutes....the players so caught up in the occasion they just weren't on the same planet. Yet it was different....something shifted tonight. Being at Anfield tonight was more fairytale than even the result suggests.....It was a game for the soul....and a game for the heart....

I fell in love again :emoticon-0152-heart

    Sounds pretty magical mate <ok>

The BVB fans I watched the game with were impressed with just how quiet it was.

Tonight was important in so many ways and for so many people (result aside). It was a watershed....a small but important part of what will hopefully be the final chapter in a dark, dark time of the city's history.

It was "the beautiful game" at it's most memorable....and it's maddest

I'm glad someone said this as I've thought the same. It has to be part of the healing but also Mr gerrard must have been affected every year.

Now sadly or perhaps naturally through time our players and coaches are just footballers again.

I don't know what that really means.

    RIP the 96 <rose>

Never forgotten and well done to all the families that have worked so hard to get these inquests that we're due to hear from soon.

I would say that's only natural. There were times when certain players took too much on their shoulders (Gerrard especially).
