Leon Best seems to have split the fans on whether he's any good or not, personally I've been converted by his impressive spell last season, and with our current dearth of strikers, i've been glad to hear this:

So are you glad that Best will* be around next season?

*MA's disclaimer: we might sell him anyway, because we're dicks.

I am happy he's not for sale. Would have him over Shola/Lover/Ranger ANYDAY! He impressed me at the end of last season and certainly can offer more than the above mentioned this season

I'm very glad indeed, he's our second best striker and since we're effectively freezing Ranger out I'd be happy if he was 3rd choice when the season starts (depending on if we sign another striker or not).

I don't really rate him. Voted no, but if we don't sign another striker i'll be glad he's stayed.

He is definitely our 2nd best striker after Ba. While he's no world beater he still racked up a better goal to game ratio last season than Sunderland's best striker and even (technically!) scored 2 past Arsenal which is damn good going for a guy who made about 99.9% of us facepalm when we saw him on the West Ham team sheet.

To get rid of him would be foolish as we need a solid striker as backup next season, and Best has shown that when he is pushed to one side he'll want to prove himself to be as good as he can get.

Scored more than Torres in the second half of last season. :) Glad he is still here.

I don't get it, he is sh*t (in my eyes) but looks like we're stuck with him.

Please God, let us sign a new striker.

The fact is though, our other strikers (except Ba) are actually worse. Nobody is voting yes because Best is the new Shearer, we're voting yes because without him we're stuck with Shola, Lovenkrands and Nile 'What's a goal?' Ranger. He scored goals last season so if we find ourself in a bad position in terms of strikers again we'd be better relying on Best than the other three.

I'd be glad for Best to stay, as everyone's said he's probably our second best striker at the minute.

He was our best striker in the second half of last season by far! He always gives 100% and is still fairly young so he can still improve, but people forget that sometimes.

Yeah, I've been 'converted' like you from his performance last season. He can do a decent job in the PL and is at least a good back up player

I don't really rate him TBH, but he's no better or worse than any of our other strikers with the exception of Ba. i just find our range of striker wholly underwhelming. i really like the look of our pacey attacking players but we could do with a classic poacher/fast little man type.

I actually think that loverman would do well in the new set up personally. the amount of times he makes runs and no one has had the vision to make the killer pass. I reckon he'd get a few with the likes of cabaye playing them through the middle. doubt he'll get many games though.

Definitely deserves a fair crack after his impressive scoring record last season, his chest is like a sponge man!

Agree, I think we're keeping him because he's the only small quick option we have, if he wasnt here it would just be 4 big strikers and no plan B. Hopefully Erdinc will give us that if we get him.
