Don't think Dean has his badges and whereas I do not know the man I believe he could serve a purpose at any Club as a motivator.

He has all the badges. He's been applying for managers jobs since he hung his boots up.

I didn't realize that 'tub'. Sounds like his personal problems in the past are putting Clubs off. Would like to see him get a go somewhere.

I always tip them to lose. It's just stupid superstition - like always putting my left sock on first & always putting my left leg in my trousers first etc. etc. Daft - but I'm too old to change now!

I'd take Monk over Sherwood! TS spent a hell of a lot of money on those players & got nowhere, he's got less credibility than Brownie right now, IMO, he'll have to drop a lot lower before he gets a shot at a PL club or even a half decent Championship team! Monk had a good run, don't know what happened with the owners, but Jenkins has always come across well with the media when I've read about Swansea, so doubt Monk would get on with the Allams!

Rowett, another ex-defender! Seems to have a good win percentage, although only seen the odd game with them & they didn't look anything special when they beat us, a lucky deflected goal, poor finishing from us & of course post & goalie in good form!

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Rowett

McLaren will come good again, Newcastle probably not the right job for him, he comes across as a nice guy, maybe too nice!
PB wouldn't come anywhere as No2 unless he fails miserably at Sarfend & then somewhere else too.
KK is highly unlikely to take any job in football, entertaining as his style was, he was unable to take the pressure!

If it was an option, I'd try for Warren Joyce to come back, but doubt he's interested in management while he's got a nice little number at Man Utd.
I can't really think of any decent managers who are out of work at the moment, but I'd be looking down that road, ex midfielders who had a bit of flair, but knew how to defend too. If Ash had gone down the coaching route with City I'd have said him, Deano would love to get a job at City in a coaching roll, but nothing's been offered.
I still believe if SB goes it will be Phelan who gets the job, I just don't see the Allams having the knowledge to look further afield! Unless they have someone inside their circle who knows something about football!

Deano should have been employed as our striker coach. Lets not forget the world class volley he scored at Wembley to take us to The Prem. Could you see any of the current squad being able to score that goal ? Get him in to teach our strikers (I use plural but the genius Bruce only ever uses 1) how to shoot, head, run into space, take a corner, take a free kick ie all the things that Bruce doesn't have a clue about that the players obviously don't practice now in training!!!

Some of the greatest players ever havent been able to turn great natural ability into a coaching/teaching career.
Anyone who thinks Deano has any coaching ability, being able to articulate and get across your meaning of how you want the game played or how to do a particular skill, obviously hasnt had the chance to hear him speak.

The answer is a simple one. The failure to sign Andre Gray back in August. FACT.

But he plays in a 4-4-2 formation every week at Burnley. How would he cope as a lone striker in a 4-4-1-1 which Bruce favours to accommodate Diame ? I don't think Gray is a better striker than Hernandez. What he gets every week is a strike partner to play off & decent service from midfield. The 2 things Hernandez does not get every week. We only have 1 quality striker at the club & we don't play to his strengths. He is a fine header of the ball yet how may goals has he scored with his head ?
He has a fine shot on him yet how often do midfield play the ball on the ground for him to run onto ? Basic stuff that Sean Dyche seems to be able to train into his midfield that Bruce doesn't seem to be able to.

Yes but burnley have gray, vokes and arfield who are 3 good strikers whereas we have Hernandez. Diomande is alright but we've not really seen a lot of him and akpoms just ****

Arfield's not a striker, but they still have more decent strikers than us.

If we had got Gray, that would have given us two decent strikers, unless you think we would have shot Abel.

Not only could Deano teach the strikers how shoot and get into position to score with intelligent running off the ball (a quality which is wholly lacking since Bruce and his henchmen have no idea how to create space), but he would bring that most important ingredient, enthusiasm for and love of the city and the club. Bruce is going through the motions. He's made millions out of football (13 mill. net worth was the last figure I saw) and is just cruising through the remainder of the season toward retirement and his villa in Spain. Then he'll be gone, thank goodness, and the Allams will sell in the summer and unless we hire a decent manager the drift down the Championship will continue next year.

Presumably because he has been a good manager for many years. Get over it.
