Pretty much every sport only has a handful of teams that take it seriously on an international stage, excluding football ofcourse.
You mean that we, the Aussies, have a handful of serious international teams? Excluding soccer, we have Union, League and womens' Netball. That's a handful if you are a Simpson!
I was referring to sports, not countries For example Rugby only have 8, Cricket have 8, League a few more but still not many.
So what sports do you consider worldwide apart from football, fishing and perhaps at a pinch horse racing?
Well exactly my point, what I was saying is none other than football are. Which is what makes it even more impressive that England have had successful eras in so many.
I make it at least 10 in real rugby (Union), only 3 at best in League, lots in Cricket depending on which variety you're talking about.
How many countries play golf to a decent standard, Ditto drug taking sorry cycling, swimming .....us, Aussies, yanks, the Dutch, that's more or less it.... Athletics ..... long distance running is down to about five countries in Africa, throwing events limited to Scandinavia and Eastern Europe......
