Well players agents have began talking about their players leaving SAFC if they do not secure survival in the EPL. Who would you like to stay? Should we give the youngsters a chance and do you think if we do manage to stay up SA should chase the buggers that threatened to leave?
They can leave only after they've walked the walk of shame, in chains, down every street in the city! Not too much to ask for is it?
I've said for the past 3 seasons that we have been brainwashed into thinking we have a half decent side so for me it's time to ditch o'shea Catts brown Larson mannone the likes of Fletcher Roberge Mavrias Coates have gone. A DOF buggered us big style and we are still suffering from it. I want Sam to stay and build a team around Kirchhoff Mnvilla Kone I would keep Borini and vanarnholt with Pickford in goal we need a powerful striker in the championship if we go down and a proper goal scoring midfielder, the biggest mistake we made this season was pressurising Advacaat to come back when he clearly did not have his full commitment. I'll be at Norwich on Sat and at least we have seen some football since Jan instead of the dross over the last 3-4 seasons
I'm leaving out players who'll want off too Keep Gks: Pickford, Stryjek Defence: PVA, O'Shea, Mathews, Brady, Beadling, T Robson, J Robson Midfield: Gomez, Buckley, Bridcutt, Mavrias, Honeyman, Blinco, E Robson, Smith Forwards: Watmore, Greenwood, Lawson, Gooch.
Who decided to introduce a DoF role and who hired the DoFs? Cope out blaming the people who left when the main culprit is still here, still not getting the blame for the mess at his own company. When a Company is failing only the owner takes responsibility for his own investment. Ellis Short has buggered us big time imo. He Made Quinn Chairman, he hired the DoFs. ONly one person to blame imo. Hope our fan base get the balls to let him know. They sure let Murrey know, the genuine fan who's few millions and tiny worth was becoming to little to compete with the money coming into the game, who left us with a wonderful stadium, state of the art academy and all foundation the club should need to push on in the future, oh the honest business man who'll pooled his limited resources to buy his home town club was strung up at times. All Ellis has done is chuck money at bad appointments then pulled the plug on investment, if there's somebody to blame there's only him imo. The SAFC I know from yesterday wouldn't stand for it. But a huge chunk of our fan base has become as stale as the club itself.
All relegated sides suffer an exodus, so what's new? You can't realistically expect lads like Kirschhof, Kone, M'Villa and Karsrhi to be wasting their careers on second rate football teams. That's reality, and we'll just have to live with it. I don't blame them one little bit..
There will be interest shown in some players (if we go down - Saturday will tell) but of the others I reckon O'Shea would be very solid at Championship Level as would most of our current defenders and midfielders. If we keep Watmore he will come into his own at the lower level but he will need someone to work off and to. Depends on who wants to stay and who can be brought in. Sunderland are far too big a Club to be in the Championship.
Abandoning the ship or being made to walk the plank? The load of ****. Which is also an old naval phrase.
There's more than 1 team that's 'too big for the championship' that are in it, and at least one that's even further down. There's always an exodus as the club balances the books but try to keep hold of players that could see them bounce back, then, depending on where you are in January, another second exodus if the return doesn't look on. That ones worse as you get less for the player (Defoe leaving WHU a prime example, we got next to nothing)
**** 'em. About time we started with a clean slate. I'd make a big effort to keep Kirchoff, Borini and PVA (as a LM not a FB), but after that my interest wanes...
You are not wrong Ern. There will be some players who consider themselves far too good for the Championship and will take any offer from a Premier League Club to get out. Others, who haven't done real well in the Premier League, will enjoy their football far much more at the lower level and will put in some sterling performances. It will be up to the Management now to acquire the players needed to regain Premier League Status and Sunderland are a Club who have the pulling power to do this. This is of course IF we go down. I have every confidence in the team for Saturday's game against Norwich and believe we will stay up.
It's not about transfer fee though It's about balancing the books with the wage bill, so you're ok if you don't come back up. Like Tel was saying the mags will be fine if they come straight back up and they probably will, but if they don't they could be in a world of ****. That's if it's true their players have no clauses. They'll hemorrhage money. We'll be fine as all our big earners are movable as they'll get a wage match. Not many players will take voluntary pay cuts these days, there's a lot of players in the mag's squad who won't be offered their present wage. IF the rumors are true. Tough league to get out of, teams can't assume they'll come straight back up and need to prep in case they don't which is so often the case.
There was absolutely nothing wrong with the Director of Football model apart from the fact that De Fanti wasn't a very good one. Congerton, on the other hand, new what he was doing and was behind some excellent deals (Altidore/Defoe) but my gut feeling is that he was hampered by other members of the club's hierachy. Given some of the things that have come to light recently, it certainly looks like poor decision making behind the scenes caused more of the problems than the presence of a DoF.
If we do go down I think we guarantee that those who want away will be allowed, even if is just for lack of commitment to the club. Hopefully the quality ones will stay for the fight.
Sunderland are reported to be weighing up a move for promising Nancy goalkeeper Alexandre Menay. The 19-year-old has become the Ligue 2 club's second-choice goalkeeper this season behind Guy N'dy Assembe and he has been tipped to have a big future. But reports by France Football suggest Sunderland - currently battling for their Premier League status - are now considering a swoop for the Frenchman. Menay's semi-pro contract expires in the summer. He would be available on a free transfer. Sunderland currently have goalkeepers Vito Mannone, Jordan Pickford and veteran Steve Harper involved in the first team squad. Roofe’s 25 goal haul for League Two Oxford this season has attracted interest from a string of Premier League and Championship clubs, with Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle among those who have watched the 23-year-old in action. Sunderland were the latest club to be linked with Roofe last week and it is understood that the Black Cats have indeed scouted the ex-West Brom trainee. However, there is not thought to have been any contact between Sunderland and Oxford at this stage for a player who impressed in January’s FA Cup third round upset against Swansea. Oxford insisted that Roofe was not for sale in the January transfer window after speculation that Newcastle were ready to make a move. But if Oxford receive a big-money bid this summer, then they will find it difficult to resist, even if they seal promotion to League One. Sunderland’s possible relegation would not necessarily end their interest in Roofe either, with several Championship clubs – including Hull and Nottingham Forest – seeing him as a realistic target. Despite the uncertainty over their fate in the Premier League, Sunderland have been keeping tabs on several potential transfer targets both domestically and in Europe over recent months. However, as reported by the Echo last week, Sunderland have put all plans over a concrete list of targets on hold until they know which division they are playing in next season. “We can only talk about pencilling in of pre-season – where we’re going, where we’ll be training, what teams we’re going to play, when we’ll start back,” said Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce. “That’s it. The rest of it is wait and see where we are.” Read more: http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...o-hold-transfer-talks-1-7847051#ixzz45gjkCGPn
