Newcastle, Norwich, Sunderland, palace and west brom were all desperate for points cos of relegation when they played Leicester and Southampton had a chance of EL qualification so tbh I can't see any of these teams giving them the points cos they have a soft spot for them ... Watford is other team they played. They won 6 and drew 1 of those 7 teams...Leicester are the most consistent team, played some great football until December or January and have earned the title...if we weren't in 2nd place I would have wanted them to win
Thats my point they had so much to play for, and put in such ****ty pitiful performances, you wouldnt think they had anything to play for other than waiting for their summer holidays to begin. In that run the only team that gave it to them was us, and coincidence, we won.
By saying that teams were soft and allowed Leicester to win is making you sound bitter. If they win then they will be worthy winners. Yes we beat them but the second game could have gone both ways. They have showed Championship mentality throughout the season, played good football and digged deep when they needed to. When we had a drop in form, instead of digging deep, we looked clueless and lost our way. When the chips were down we showed no Championship mentality and this has been going on for 10 years now. Give credit where it's due and Leicester deserve it massively, in an era of mega rich clubs.
Spurs 0-0 United at HT. Bright opening 25 minutes in the game by United, who looked threatening from Martial's pace and trickery, but Spurs gained a foothold in the match and had two of the best chances to go into the second half leading. Lamela missed a sitter and Walker was unlucky that Fosu-Mensah blocked his shot at the last second. Not been a particularly entertaining game and United dropped a lot deeper when Spurs got into their rhythm, but based on that first half, I'd wager that a draw will be the most likely outcome. A point apiece won't suit either team, though.
Spurs leading 1-0. Not sure if we're gonna finish ahead of them this season. They're 6 points ahead with 5/6 games left.
This was another one of those" trophies" we celebrated. Yet another thing to camouflage year after year of chronic capitulation. Absolute joke.
Even if we do finish ahead of them, it won't make up for how much of an underwhelming season we have had. Absolutely no excuses to not win the league this year and every bit of criticism we get is fully justified.
Diego, what was that you were saying? LOL instead of being worried about Arsenal and top 4, I'd be more worried about your own team, looks like no UCL footy for you lot for the 2nd out of 3 years. So much for the biggest club in the world.
I find it amusing that what Ranieri will do in 10 months is what Wenger has failed to do in 12 years. If that's not a damning indictment of the manager, I don't know what is.
van Gaal is great. They go behind, so he takes off their sole striker and brings on Young. Seems to make sense, Martial had been playing on the wing and he'll surely move forwards and take the lone striker role. BUT NO! Louis has other ideas, and tells Ashley Young, who for most of last season played as a full back lets not forget, to go up front and play as a false nine. I mean I guess it makes sense with the rest of his team. He's got a winger as an attacking mid, an attacking mid on the wing, a defensive midfielder who's 5'9 at centre back, and a 6'0 central midfielder taking his teams corners...
I don't know if it's a bad thing, but with how **** we have been in the last 3 months, if we win our game in hand, we will be only 3 points behind Spurs, puts how 'great' they have been into perspective, and generally, how piss poor this season has been. The quality is absolutely dog **** in the EPL this year, and we see that reflected in Europe.
Fosu-Mensah going off changed the game, for me. He was single-handedly keeping that defence together and when Darmian came on, all their goals came from his side of the pitch. Had he stayed on, United could have nicked a draw but once Alli scored, the result was never in doubt. United's capitulation was pathetic, though. If this is the second season out of the last three that they finish out of a CL spot, that is humiliating. You can't excuse it. LvG has spent a lot of money and he's still not able to fix a proper team together or buy the right players for the way he wants to play.
There's been so many indictments about Wenger's (lack of) managerial ability over the last decade that one more just passes over my head. We'd probably finish 3rd even if we played in league 2. And some fans would still tell us to be happy as things could be worse
For people like you or I or for those that have wanted him to leave for several years now, of course. But for those who wanted to maintain their trust in the manager & genuinely believed that he knew what he was doing, every excuse people have had in the last decade to defend the manager has now flown out the window, based on this season. There aren't any excuses to use anymore. Every problem we have now is entirely self-inflicted.
Leicester have really shown that they will be worthy title winners this season, people doubted them, understandably. But they have turned the whole league on it's head, literally from this time last year and look like they are on the home straight now. It will be the single biggest achievement in top flight football ever.
