I remember that series fondly, and I remember that story as well. Reminds me of a similar story from when the great England bowler Ashley Giles had his testimonial year with his county, Glamorgan. They had thousands of commemorative mugs made, featuring the legend Ashley Giles - King of Spin. Unfortunately the factory making the mugs didn't understand cricketing terms and assumed there had been a typographical error, so the mugs were duly printed with: Ashley Giles - King of Spain. Being pragmatic people, the club sold the mugs and the new nickname stuck!

I absolutely loved that series, my personal favourite was Stevie Wonder's magnum opus Songs In The Key Of Life, which is still a stunning piece of work.
That reminds me of the story of his acceptance of his Grammy award. He was in Africa at the time of the award so a satellite hook-up was arranged so that Stevie could be awarded his Grammys from across the sea. Bette Midler announced the results during the ceremony, and the audience was only able to see Wonder at a phone smiling and giving thanks. .The video signal was poor and the audio inaudible, then Andy Williams went on to make a public blunder when he asked the blind-since-birth Wonder, “Stevie, can you see us?

Fleetwood Mac's Rumours was one of the album's in that series. Amazing insight into the creative process; two marriages disintigrating in the studio, Mick Fleetwood struggling with addiction, and out if it all came a record that will probably be arround for centuries.

If we do a pre-game big Not-606 meet up in a pub (which I absolutely think we should) anyone mind if I bring Fable along as an honorary member? She hasn't the first clue about football, but really, genuinely appreciates/finds it funny that she has support from the Saints folk from here! Plus we need to convert her to the beautiful game!

Tragic. He was a legend, full stop. Always enjoyed him playing and I felt he was a major architect of the win in 66! Must be awful for the family - I'm lucky that my mum is still with it mentally. Count my blessings.

There has been a discussion about a possible link with Alzheimers and heading heavy footballs, but I bet none of them would swap their football careers even if they knew.

You'd have thought he'd have learned after falling for the same punch five times in a row.

That is so sad. Imagine your father being remembered by a whole generation of fans as the man who scored England's first goal in the 1966 Final, but you can't discuss it in front of him. Alzheimer's is a terrible illness, I know from first hand knowledge as I watched my mother die of the disease, and it is claiming so many of the people I looked up to as I grew up.

Well if we all needed an incentive to meet up, that would certainly be it! Yes, please, Laces, I'm sure she'd be dazzled by the wit and erudition of the people of this forum. Just don't show her yesterday's photo first though!

He needs ring time. They keep trying to give him some, but he keeps knocking people out. An interesting dilemma, but yeah, he's not ready for Fury or Klitchko yet. Maybe. And the division isn't strong, so what does he do, keep taking fights below his level of ability or step up and gamble?

I'm going to give the advice I always give when Alzheimers and dementia comes up. The one thing that is linked incontrovertibly with delaying the onset of these horrors is exercise. The specialist who turns up repeatedly on Radio 4 when they need an expert once said that there is almost nothing in the world that she hates more than running but she runs four times a week because of the effect. She said everything else you can do pales into insignificance next to exercise.

Get an exercise bike or a pair of trainers and go for a ride, a run or even a walk. It helps.
