Who has what? I have Sky mainly for all the Sports channels in HD but I hear Virgin have a larger selection of shows on their anytime package.
Anyone got the new Virgin TiVo? Any good? Got huge memory storage by all accounts. Anyone tempted to switch from one to the other?

Apologies for the off topic but seriously bored of "Fat Mike's a twat" & "Pardew is Fat Mike's sex slave!!" threads at the moment.

I've got the full virgin media package (All the TV channels, sky sports package, HD package... everything except movies basically! As well as the 50MB fibreoptic broadband connection) and am over the moon with it.

Personally I think the virgin package is made so good by the broadband part of it so if you're just comparing TV packages against each other it's probably alot closer, however I don't have the new Tivo so can't comment on that. By all means it's supposed to be good.

Im with Virgin, was with Sky but my signal was awful due to mahoosive trees behind my house. Virgin is good, not as much choice as sky channel wise but a far better "on demand" selection so there is always something to watch even if theres nothing on the TV. I have looked into the new tivo box, the largest size it comes in is 1TB which beats any recordable box hands down, even the 500GB is amazing. Also they have just given me £25(basically skysports for free) quid a month off my bill for life as a loyalty bonus after 1 year which I thought was amazin too.

Most of the stuff on Virgin is just lifted from iPlayer, ITV player, 4OD and 5OD from what I can remember. They simply make it more convenient by allowing you to watch it on your tele. And mine didn't even work half the time.

Also worth mentioning that I've found Virgin's customer service to be loads better than Sky's and because they are basically a combination of all the other companies that went bust (mainly the ntl network and all the offshoots from that) the infrastructure is there already for improvements.

Costs a fair whack, but there are 3 of us that split it between us so don't mind paying for it considering that means we can all use as much internet as we want, PS3 online, online poker, streaming music/videos etc with no lag at all :D

    Derby won't be on TV.

Our TV games so far are; Arsenal (ESPN), QPR (SKY), Spurs (SKY), Stoke (SKY) and Everton (SKY). They'll announce more, but that'll be it for this year.

I have the same as you, we were going to transfer to Sky a while back but my friend had already done so and had a problem with the speed of the broadband. He works from home but is now tied into a contract which he will have to see out for fiancial reasons. Unfortunately, like most companies these days the better deals are for new subscribers, not loyal customers. If your contract is up or about to expire you can ring your supplier and say you are leaving, they often match like for like, or will even offer a better deal if you stay.

In September, Virgin are bringing out the next generation of Tivo boxes, they are supposed to be exceptional.

I'm with Sky at the minute, which has just been made extra sweet with the new Sky Go app on iPhone but i'm tempted to switch in September/October once we hear some reports on the new tivo.

Sky's customer service are terrible. When I moved house they told me I had to pay £240 to have everything moved over. Conversation went something like this.

Sky - Yeah it'll be £240 to move your details to your new address
Me - Ok how much to leave Sky
    Sky - It's free
Me - How much to re-sign up
Sky - It's free and we'll give you free install, box etc
Me - So I'll just leave and re-sign when I've moved house.
    Sky - one moment sir . . . . . . .
    Me - ok
Sky - (a minute or 2 later) Sir we've decided to wave the moving charge for you, it won't cost you anything
Me - Cool, how many people do actually pay the £240?
    Sky - Most people.

Most people are being ripped off but I suppose if you don't ask you don't get. Unfortunately can only get BT internet because I live in the arse end of nowhere apparently.

I've been with sky for many years and I've decided it's time for a change so I'm having Virgin installed tomorrow :)

Didnt bother with the Tivio box though as I would have had to pay an extra £50 or so!

Sky broadband is ****e & the telephone calls have been expensive, add to that my series link recordings are starting to fail and signal interuptions made my mind up to switch.

I'll be able to let you know in a week or two how they match up <ok>

I know what you mean, each sky box has a shelf life of about 13 months, basically it will start to **** up as soon as your 1 year warranty expires, funny that eh? So every time my box has went on the blink I ring up and they try to charge me £60 odd pound or whatever it is now as a call out charge. Each time I've said stuff that, put me through to cancellations, and when I speak to that dept they imediately say they'll do it free of charge! Had them out many times but never been charged yet! Wonder how many people have paid this fee? Millions?
