If Diomande is actually decent after all why the **** has he not had a sniff when the other strikers have been so poor?
http://www.skysports.com/football/huddsfld-vs-hull-city/report/340015 I think this match report was written by a City fan, it certainly flatters us.
Close Stan, but they don't need to be FBs for 3-5-2, but a modicum of defensive instinct would be handy. You really shouldn't have bitten.
STUTTERING TIGERS RESCUE POINT AGAINST TERRIERS All change from City at the John Smith Stadium. In came Maguire, Bruce, Elmohamady and Hernandez, as the Tigers reverted to three at the back. Davies slipped to the bench, as Steve Bruce experimented. The two thousand travelling Tigers faithful saw City endure the usual early heart stopping moment as a good chance for Lolley was thwarted by Alex Bruce. A nervy start by the City defence , who seemed unsure of their defensive duties. On five minutes, good work from Elmohamady , but the header from Hernandez went straight to the keeper. Huddlestone and Hernandez both missed chances, and a good effort from Lolley went narrowly wide.Diame wasted a good chance (How many times have I written that?), and then Elmohamady was caught out of position, and Huddersfield made us pay. Paterson took one touch and buried the ball in the bottom corner. And then, it got even worse, Dawson going off with what looks like a serious injury. City were nearly dead and buried in added time, Robertson ball watching, but Lolley’s shot was well saved by McGregor. The second half began and the drama mounted.McGregor came to City’s rescue twice in a minute, and the fans began to think maybe we could get something. Hopes intensified, as Brucie threw on Aluko, and the City sub set up Hernandez, who finished with aplomb. All square. Aluko’s arrival transformed the side, but then, on ninety minutes, Maguire attempted to head wide, but succeeded only in heading an own goal. And that, you would have thought, was that. But what a strange game football is. With three minutes of added time played, Diomande got on the end of a looping cross, and buried his header in the net. And that really was that. City were poor, but at least showed some fighting spirit. Cardiff’s late defeat at Fulham was an unexpected bonus, and now Steve Bruce has to steer us through the play offs. Automatic promotion has gone now, but Stevie Bruce is the man to take us through. Back to Wembley again? In Bruce we trust. At least, I do. http://www.hullcityosc.com/match-report/stuttering-tigers-rescue-a-point-against-terriers/
Diomande looked all right, but let's not get ahead of ourselves, his first touch leaves a lot to be desired, and i'm still far from convinced that he's the answer up top, but he defo looks more effective than Diame playing up top. With Diame, I can't work out if it's because he's lazy or if it is just down to the fact he's being played massively out of position. Prob a combination of the two, (more the lazy one tho) but we defo looked better when he came off. I actually though we were better than we have been recently, but were so exposed in the first half at left wingback and right wing back, and second half at left back and right back that we let a particularly ****e Huddersfield create a fair few chances. Robbo looks knackered and needs a break, Elmo looks like he's never played football before. If it hadn't been for the awful defending on our right flank for both goals, we'd have comfortable won today.
I know that its said he has a lot to learn, but I think Robertson has more than a lot to learn. Last season when he was exposed, I put it down to lack of experience and being in the Premiership, but this season, for as much as he has looked good going forward more often than not, he still spends a lot of time ball watching and being caught out of position. He also only has one foot and no work seems to have been done to try and improve that aspect of his game. I actually think that he may still be here next season no matter where we are, as I'm sure that many who know a million times more than me will have seen the same thing when they've been scouting.
It's our failure to beat below average sides at home like MK Dons, Forest (and earlier in the season Blackburn) that has cost us. An extra 4 or 6 points and we'd still be in the mix.
Just saw the highlights. Huddersfield looked to have more chances and our defence looked pathetic from the clip I saw.
