Midfielder Matt Richards signs a two year deal, formerly played at Ipswich, Brighton and Walsall. Looks a good signing to me. http://www.shrewsburytown.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10443~2403937,00.html
I thought he was a LB/LM but Saddler gave the impression of a CM, and that's what it says on the Site. Also I suppose we're well stocked on wingers
Yeah he is a CM, but can play LB/LM. Against Wolves he played CM. 9 Goals last season with a struggling side in a league above is pretty good. Can also take a great free-kick.....so they say. All we need now is a RB and I think the squad will be pretty much finished.
Thought he looked very promising against Wolves. Glad we've signed him. If Regan signs at right back then I'd agree that's likely to be it. With the reduction to 5 subs I don't think it'd make much sense to sign more. See how we go with what we've got.
Richards reminds me of Danny Whitaker at Chesterfield who's a quality player. If he's anywhere near as good as him he's got my seal of approval
I think he will be. Good luck to Walsall this season and let's hope that our two Matt ex-players our teams have signed do us both a good job.
I'd like Walsall to do well, or at least just get some crowds back, for Midlands football in general. I hate to admit it but we're seriously lagging behind the North(Mancs, Merseyside) and South(London, where else?) we haven't got a Chelsea or Man Utd, closest things are Villa and Stoke. It would be great if we could dream of competing
villa have fallen by the wayside recently, they seemed to have turned into as feeder club for the likes of Man City and Liverpool!!! Agree though, I would like to see all midlands clubs do well.
Well this season we'll be averaging a little more then last at least! Around the 4,200 mark! Massive. Absolutely detest home games at this moment in time...
I get the impression that was why MON left - Barry one season, Milner the next, now Young and Downing.
MO'N would have been tearing his hair out, but remember the figure he spent- £100m+ wasn't it? I can understand his frustrations, but he did waste a lot. For all his 'man-management skills' (having read a portion of Alex Montgomery's bio before dozing off) still left Reo-Coker, Heskey, Beye, Luke Young, Wilfred Bouma and others slumming in the reserves or similar. Ah well.
