Would it be too big a test for Sonny Bradley? Remember Cooper vs Liverpool (6-1) it's ok everyone saying "he did well" but in his own head he knows he was partly responsible and it can be a setback for young players.. They've just thrown Ayala's name in as it's the first name that comes to mind, Kenny D said he was in their plans so doubt it.
Hi Daniel, we wouldn't have asked you but McShane's injured, when he's back you'll be 4th choice... bet he's thrilled.
I know he is, but we've just signed Hobbs on a perm and it's obvious he is his favourite. I mean he accommodated Hobbs last season by sticking Chester in midfield (Maybe to secure the signing of Hobbs) and If he had the choice between Ayala, Chester and Hobbs he would do it again this season. I just hope it's not a sign of things to come, leaving better players on the bench just to please your favourites. Simpson should have been starting the last 10 games of last season but NP was stubborn and stuck with Mclean, purely to try and justify the signing.
CANNOT BRING COOPER BACK UNTIL JAN 2012. With Macca sout til October and doubts on Hobbs now (hamstring) City only have Chester, Evans, Bradleyand Killer who was poor last night for the centre backs. I would now assume that Ayala will be in for the Chesterfield game. Looks like Ayala and Chester for now. The issue also with Hobbs it match fitness as he has not played since Ferriby. Whats the saying, good news comes out of bad ?
Put trust into Bradley until McShane returns, or IMO for the rest of this season and use him as cover, he looked very solid yesterday. I mean, if were not gonna trust him as back-up and when one of the first choice CBs get injured (no jynx) we may as well loan him out.
I'm not sure it will happen. If his contract is up at the end of this season, I can see us lodging a bid for him in January and picking up a free transfer from somewhere else. If we wanted him that desperatley, NP would be aware of his contract situation and simply buy him rather than loan him and have the inevitable PL clubs sniffing around him come May/June.
The 6-1 was @ Liverpool was down to a woeful midfield and an even worse Sonko. John Terry would struggle with Sonko nevermind Liam Cooper. K D at Liverpool has said that he has to trim his massive squad and once they have put in there 25 man squad lists Ayala will be a surplus. City to get there man either on loan or on a full transfer. The question is when ? In Jan Ayala is FREE to talk with whom he likes.
I hear what your saying and for sure both Pearsons knows his situation. As Ayala will be under 24 when his contract runs out City would still have to pay Compensation to Liverpool but it would be smaller than any fee. The situation with Hobbs now makes this a priority. Maccas wages should be covered by insurance as well as Hobbs if he is out for any length of time. Bradley should be used in the cup games for sure and by rushing him will indeed undo any confidence he has built up.
As much as I like Ayala, i'd rather it didn't happened. Be a shame if Hobbs or Chester where benched if fit. I'd much rather us go for someone like Matt Killgallon on loan, but ideally stick with Bradly in needed and blood him.
He's not ready yet, a decent prospect but very raw, another who would benefit from a season out on loan in League one or two.
kilgallon is a funny one, i was so keen for us to go for him when he went to sunderland but he's had a shocking couple of years since. whether its his attitude or injuries or what i don't know.
We'd have a new CB - but for the fact we still have SO, PM and JB on the books. Under the new policy they stay and play unless we get rid of them other than by subsidised loans. We have PM so as much as Nige would love another one in, he has to sell first. This may help twist the owner's hands into paying up early. I have no doubt that we have further buys lined up and waiting for us to free up space. Ayala looks like one. We bought what what available, when it was, and he is evidently a loan possibility IF we make savings elswhere.
Ideally we'd sign Ayala and have him on the bench to start with. There's no chance that in a 3-month loan he wouldn't get a chance to start, injuries happen and form happens. Teams need 3 first choice centre backs, the days of having a 'First XI' for the season are long gone. It was obviously going to happen, the season hasn't even started yet and our paper thin defence has been exposed and we're left with one senior centre back. This is why we need a 3rd one who is first team material (i.e. better than McShane) McShane and Bradley for cover with Cooper recallable in January would be fine.
I would agree with that mate. Once City get in another CB then look to loan him out ? Scunthorpe Utd as City can keep him close at hand. Bradley is too raw but one for the future without a doubt.
Thats a tad harsh. Macca has done well so far. But if it helps get in the man we all want then so be it.
Ayala and Hobbs would be the best pairing. A loan with the view to a permanent deal in January - great idea.
