I was shown a post where he discusses "the Riga affec" and a table that says we are 12th since he took over on form. Bottom of that table was Rotherham. Tells you everything you need to know about stats. They can always be manipulated. These players that have improved us - like Motta and to a degree, sanogo, will be gone. We start again. There is no momentum.
And for every Boro (they were crap) there is a Sheff wed away. It's just absolute nonsense. Absolutely, I'm very worried about what will replace them, I genuinely shudder at the thought. I bet the man with the laptop has started up FM, clicked add leagues and then put all the obscure foreign pub leagues in, to conjure up some embarrassments for next season.
It sounded like a good solid performance last night, with Ipswich booed off by their own fans at the end. We will have Mick McCarthy if Ipswich don't want him. Unfortunately the Fulham win has almost done for us - nothing less than 3 points at QPR on Saturday keeps the flickering flame of survival alive. The Most Self Inflicted Relegation In History is almost upon us.
At least we're going down fighting, which I wouldn't have expected a couple of months ago, when I was sure we'd end up bottom by a long way, probably done and dusted by now. Who knows what Roland will inflict on us next season?
It doesn't really matter if you go down fighting or not - you are still down. Most of these players will leave in the summer [that is welcome in 95% of cases]. Rumours on Twitter today that little Harriott, who is out of contract, is being released. Incidentally - have you seen who is top of the Championship current form table ?> Rotherham. Warnock. 5 wins and a draw in their last 6.
Lets say we have a 15% confirmed non-renews (these are the people that don't turn up anymore), a further 5% leave because of relegation and 10% abstain from buying due to the boycott (it's probably not going to be as successful as C.A.R.D believe), then we're probably going to have a sub 5,000 crowd against some crap team like Plymouth Argyle or Burton Albion. Hopefully he'll sell, but it will be in January. And we won't go up due to his crap players, etc.
Next season will be a combination of raw Academy kids and real foreign Network chuff - players who make Makienok look like Messi. RD will also cut back even further in other areas - the canteen lady will be made physio.
It goes without saying that our best players will go, and with Messrs Murray & Meire doing the negotiations we'll roll over for anyone who makes an offer. Maybe a team like_ Phillips; Solly, Lennon, Sarr, Fox Hanlon, Jackson, Lapslie, Edwards, Umerah, KAG
Interesting line up- Teixera is aged 29 but has a 4 year contract , so I wonder what will happen to him. The real work of genius is Naby Sarr - not only a shocking player - but on a 4 year contract too
The sad thing is that even the momentum we are accumulating now will probably not be of any use as a lot of the better players will be moved on in the summer, leaving our magical scouting network to find the usual young promises like Koc and Peter Parsley that have done so much harm to us for two years. If we could keep Tex, Harriott, Fox (seems to be improving under Riga),Cousins, Diarra (when not injured) and a couple of the others, we would be in a position to build a squad, but we are more likely to build around Johnson, Sarr and Ceballos, so this summer is really going to be excruciating.
All this run of results will serve to do is give KM/RM/RD an arrogant platform to argue the squad is good enough, and Riga is definitely the right man. They will bemoan injuries and maintain we would have stayed up had Makienok not missed a run of five games around November.
The 3 wise monkeys have given up trying to fool the fans now. Their rare public utterances are aimed at the media.
Wishful thinking Ken. Duchatelet's mantra at Charlton from Day 1 has been "cut costs to the bone", hence the pitiful signings and the pitiful medical team, etc. All we will see next season is a further downgrading, from shopping at Aldi to shopping at Lidls, stopping off occasionally behind the back of Tescos to pick the out-of-date stuff out of the bins. We only sign players who are out of contract and free agents for a reason- they are desperate, and cheap. We only sign players we have released 6 months earlier for the same reason. Hard to see the ex France international Diarra wanting to end his career in League One. Equally hard to see Teixera, Karshi and Bauer fancying it, either. Harriott and Henderson already want out, as does Igor and JBG. When you add the likes of Ceballos, Reza, Makienok, Ba, Sarr, Bergdich etc..you start to see we have a problem. In summary, lots of sh1t will float out of SE7 this summer but rest assured..plenty more will float back in.
Worth watching the highlights to see Big Mak falling over when trying to chest the ball down with nobody near him. Comedy gold.
