Also when it comes to Flanagan - I think he's a good player. I think he's a younger English player who has potential in a different way than the usual talents do. Most youngsters become hyped because they are flashy and quick and skillful. Flanagan isn't. But he's great at defensive skills such as tackling and pressuring his man. At the moment that isn't quite enough for a fullback in the modern game, but he's down to earth and probably has the determination needed to learn how to bomb down the flank and not get caught out, etc. We all want him to do well because he's a local lad but we should be mindful of the fact that Moreno is young as well. Moreno is much better offensively (I think he's underrated on here as to what he brings offensively) but not as good at tackling or reading his runners as Flanno is. Both are worthy to have in a squad. They may both develop properly. They're not perfect, they're not even top 10 young fullbacks. But they're talented and I think both will come good with some trust, coaching, and time.

That game reinforced how poor the league is this year. That Tottenham team are average to good nothing special. Alli and Eriksen are good players but it showed how limited Kane is. If you can prevent him from getting the ball in and around the box he looks lost, a few times he drifted wide to get the ball and he has no idea what to do with it. The first time we let him on the ball in the box though his best strength of accuracy put the ball in the bottom corner.

I agree kane is too slow and relies on movement in the box.

He could do a costa frankly. Doing great in terms of getting goals but well.... dunno how long it will continue. Injury could make him ineffective or he could have a career to 40.

  4. Agree with all bar the highlighted bit. Couldn't give a **** about him being local <ok>

However, being a local lad is what gives him that passion, heart and desire to do his very best for Liverpool Football Club. He would run through a brick wall for the club and without these contributes, he wouldn't be the same player.

    My take..
Both teams didn't deserve to lose, draw was the fair result..
However, must say.. most of their efforts in the first half were due to sloppy play from Sakho..
Most of our chances were down to great play from us, we had the better chances and had we taken them, would have won that 3-1
Think Kane is actually pretty damn good, yeah, he "only" scores goals, not a bad "limitation" to have if you ask me!
Had Kane been one on one like Sturridge, pretty sure he'd have scored.
They did press well, and high, kept us in our own half, bit more composure and we'd have beaten their press, something we'd be able to do with a better midfield and a forward that puts more a shift in!!
In short, good game, fair result..

I think yes we had largely all the best chances. and genuine ones at that that were missed.

Kane got one score one.. and frankly if they's what he does he'll have a long and distingushed career.. I just feel he lacks pace in hte modern game.

I also agree that their high press showed up distinct weaknesses in our team.

We don't pick the pext pass, we control it. look down at the ball and fumble around.. and i'm talking can here. Speed of thought is not about getting it then deciding its about being aware and having the next move in your mind then executing.

Its like England yesterday. they went in and gave the last over 4 balls that were largely identical so the guy just had to swing. he had the move planned and then executed.

We have guys who don't plan the next move it seems and as such its difficult to beat that first press and find the space.

If we'd taken just one of the chances in the first half we would've won this 2-1 (presuming the second half wasn't altered by us scoring in the first). It was sort of an exciting, energetic match but the play was quite scrappy, seemed to me like both teams struggled to keep possession

    Maybe you are.

Both teams pressed hard. They did better for half of second half but we out worked them the same way as Utd were blown out after 70 mins
