Sensible? Making people immune from criticism because of unrelated events of the past isn't sensible in my book, it's bizarre. Our debt is Short's debt, Not Murrey's, not Cowie's. If it not down to Eliss what is? It's his company, like with every company an owner can sack and blame employees all he wants, it's still his company and his investment so it's his problem.
True. But he's not the football guy. Look at who he's had in. Been advised by Quinn. Brought in proven managers like O'Neill and Bruce and spent money bringing in players. Keane practically had two squads on the go, but only after he'd turned the ship around first from the bottom of the Championship. What else could he have done?
He appointed Quinn as chairman. If a owner can't stand by his own hire and fireings and can't take responsibility of said hired personal when they go wrong then I can't see how anybody else can be held responsible. Quinn racked up a massive debt. Short allowed it. Anyhow, it's hardly a problem that can be resolved by the end of the season. The real problem is winning games with the squad we have now. Would like to see Sam grow some balls and play somebody in the middle who can actually operate in our opponents half. As yesterday we set up defensively against a team with no interest in even attacking us. Took us an hour to even get into a game. Their keeper played well but he would have been hard pushed to keep a clean sheet if he had to work for 90 minutes, not just the last 30.
I think Norwich will get 6 as well. Can we get 11? 11 would be enough imo because can't see the mags getting anywhere near 13 or 14
Spot on - You watch what you want at live matches NOT what camera wants you to see - plus match day atmosphere is a live & one off in my ways
Good insightful post - yes I agree he's got some weaknesses but am hopeful his experience will recover the situation - all managers have their downsides but wait till he gets all the players he wants ... we may all be supporting a winning team
For me Sam got his selection and tactics just about right to get round the back line of four centre halves that they use, as they are just about the meanest team in the league for conceding. Both Kirchhoff and Catts got a lot of attacking in as well as defending leading to PVA and Yedlin being more involved in an attacking role but a goal eluded us. Seven good shots on target out of twenty two says it all for me.
Kirchoff was class no doubt but lumping long balls up to Defoe & Borini who are both about 5'6", marked by big, 6'4" defenders isn't gonna work.
Totally agree that Bill and God only knows why he does it but mist of our players do not cross the half line when Mannone has it but I doubt if it is a tactic that was well thought out unless it was meant to be wider and less high for oncoming players to at least pick up on misplaced knock down. Length over height is the key but Mannone maybe does not get it.
I think no one really makes themselves an option for VM to kick out to - a bit static and they don't chase down the ball very well ' he needs to pass out to a player and so help us retain possession aka Poyet style but not too much slowly slowly
There were plenty times the crowd were screaming at him to play it out quick when options were available, but he rarely did. He just seems to be a shadow of his own self from back when I remember him turning up. I don't know if its a lack of confidence of himself or in his defence. Or something else.
I'd be a poor second there -I could'nt hope to come close - Like Barcelona v Gateshead - No competition Thread back on track now - BSA - 3pts now needed- get the bugle & hounds fox hunt on Saturday then Ultimate Bowie at Washington Arts Centre - have just had a caffine fix mind -lol
