Indeed. Before the weekend everyone was saying Norwich were dead and buried, then just one win for them is all it takes for everyone to say they're staying up and condemn us and the mackems. Whoever's a dead cert for relegation by public opionion will change every week. Basically we're 3 rubbish teams and 2 of us are going down. At the moment, judging by that draw we scraped yesterday, we're the worst of the 3 and the favourites for the drop. Norwich and Sunderland's run ins are tougher than ours, but considering our team is utter dross, they are more likely to pick up points than us. Benitez truely is a big fat god if he can keep this lot up....more unlikley escapes have happened though - Wigan, Leicester, mackems, Fulham and Sheff Utd in the early 90s, so never say die.
There is so much that could potentially change between now and then. After the next 3 rounds of games it will probably be a lot more clear. Our problem is that I can see us getting organised and grinding our some draws but they won't be good enough. Wins are massive now and we probably look the least likely to score any goals out of all the relegation candidates. If we go ahead maybe can hang on but as soon as we go behind there is no way back. I feel like Defoe could really be the decider in this whole situation. If possible we probably need to get Cisse in the pitch more.
the first 6 games relegated us, 1-3 at home to Norwich and the defeat we will suffer in 2 weeks time. The mentality of these players is to be in the bottom three, it is true and they need to see a shrink as soon as possible, now we face the old win 4 or 5 games on the trot scenario which will not happen this season because Pantillimon and Fletcher are not here !. Burton albion at home eh next season hehe.
Next round of games from the bottom four, I can only see Norwich winning, with Palace dropping to 17th............... You can both watch us Swans on MOTD next season lads...............
The problem your lot have is that even though you have become difficult to beat, you just can't buy a win at the moment. You can play well for 3 games and still not catch Norwich even if they play **** but scrape 1 win in 3. You're in a better position than us mind
I hope so, but think, barring miracles, it is too late for those twists to help us lot. Aston Villa have now mathematically reached the point where they need to win every single game and even then are virtually certainly relegated. We have now reached the point where we pretty much need to win every single game (even the unwinnable ones) to stand a chance of staying up. If next week goes badly for you with results then you could join us in that boat too. I'd actually like to see both of us stay up, but think that is now impossible. Nothing is certain yet, but as the weeks pass by it is looking more and more likely that there could still be at least two derbies for us both next season
After this week's results it's looking grim for Sunderland, and more or less impossible for Newcastle i'm affraid. I can see Norwich's remaining games something like this: drawing with Palace, Sunderland and Man Utd. Defeats at Arsenal and Everton but beating Watford. That would give them another 6 pts. Can Sunderland get 10? Newcastle would need to get 12 or possibly 13 due to goal difference. Both north east teams need to better Norwich's result next week to give themselves a chance. As I said it's looking bleak, for both sides
After 31 games last season, Leicester were bottom with 25 points. We were 10 points above them having played the same number of games and in 13th. It then took us a win on the last day to guarantee safety; Leicester are top of the table today. An AWFUL lot can happen in football. Yes, we're probably heading down, but there's a lot of football to play and two wins for us/defeat and draw for Norwich in their next two puts us one point behind them with a game in hand. We can still get out of this, but.......STOP FCKING PLAYING FCKING 4-FCKING-2-FCKING-3-FCKING-1. Oh, and drop some FCKING players.
Probably we will get relegated. Too many players who don't give a toss. I'll be there next season, come what may. I love Newcastle United. Always have done. Always will do.
