Not sure why Moreno is being criticised lol? He had a decent game - lost his runner once or twice I think. Sakho had a mare in the first half but was good in the second. Lovren was very good in the first half but poor in the second. Can was good defensively but not much on the ball. Looks like he's the one playing the more disciplined role to allow Henderson to go forward. Henderson did more today which was positive but still not good enough. Milner - the less said, the better. Coutinho turned it on the second half. Lallana was decent. Starting to worry about Sturridge - I really do think he'll be gone in the summer if the right offer comes in. At first, I thought he is trying to get back to match sharpness but now I think he's a little disinterested. Well, either he is disinterested or he's playing within himself - but this looks like a mental issue, and I think it becomes very difficult to come back from. Hopefully he can get back to his peak. We created some good chances against a solid Spurs team - get Firmino back in the team and we should put away more chances. The midfield and defence continues to worry but there's not much else we can do until the summer.
I agree on most of that Moreno played well enough. I thought Lovren was good throughout though, sometimes you read a situation wrong and he did with the goal but you have to give the striker credit sometimes. Can I though was brilliant did a great job in the middle.
On kane goal. The ball was going out in the mind of Clyne. Spurs didn't give it up but we all did. Clyne didn't chase out it it was recovered and it was chipped over him. Lovern was trying to react to his situation rather than being actively tracking kane. Kane then turned brilliantly to score. In short for me the entire team dropped off and stopped trying to play and get on the ball and then we assumed this ball was going out. The lesson must be keep playing possession football, don't just drop off and make sure of every ball every time.
Now can... Incredibly sloppy on the ball and passing was poor. I felt he was targeted by spurs as was sahko. Now moreno Moreno's channel was targeted for diagonal balls. I think them running with ball is over rated and how spurs picked them and exploited them should be showing their weaknesses.
No worries - I'm sure Moreno is so poor that Flanno will be starting over him in the next game. Or he may even get on the bench if he's lucky.
It was a great goal but it was poor defending. It's a shame because he did have an ok game overall (the first half was brilliant IMO) but he was at fault for the goal and he was lucky we weren't punished towards the end as well when he got beat. I wouldn't be upset if we replaced all of the defenders this summer. Agreed on Can - he's doing a lot more of the defensive work now and I think Klopp will develop him into the DM role, but we need to bring in a creative MF next to him.
Lol what? Moreno lost his man once or twice and I called him out on it? Overall, it was a good game. Lovren was at fault for the goal - does that mean we ignore the good things he did? You call me a hypocrite - if Flanno put in a performance like Moreno did yesterday, you and a lot of others would be creaming over it. #Agendas
You can't see the wood for the trees mate. Flanno losers his man once in a game and you're all over it like a fanny rash! Moreno does it once or twice and "it happens" As I said, I've not seen yesterday's game so can't comment on Moreno. I was merely responding to your ironic comment.
Difference is Flanno is also dribbled past 4 or 5 times a game as well as losing his man, as well as being out of position despite not going forward lol. But the biggest irony is how you pipe up about how some players are scapegoats but you do it all the time!
Least he's in the right position to be dribbled past I've never claimed Flanno is the dogs bollox, he's just a very good option to have that you disregard because of geography. Moreno showed promise when Klopp arrived but he's regressed back to last season. Flanno HAS out performed Moreno in the few appearances he's had yet you'll criticise Flanno for making less errors than you praise Moreno for #racism
Lol - all in all, I wouldn't be upset if changed the entire back line! The Jonas Hector links are exciting though.
At the end of the day, every single player of ours is severely inconsistent (except couts) and for that reason I find it very hard to argue for their place in a hypothetical dream new lineup next season. We have a lot of mentally weak players quite frankly. As for Sturridge, his mentality was always average at best, certainly never had the drive like Suarez - read through Gerrard's (slightly dull) autobiography and he made his views on Sturridge abundantly clear Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Coutinho is as inconsistent as anyone Clyne is probably out most consistent player PS...I've had Gerrard's (second) book since Christmas. Only managed to read the first chapter so far #boring
Couts is fairly consistent though: he plays average all game in between scoring absolute belters from out of nowhere
I think Coutinho needs some stability in the teams around him. He excels at the 10 role. When he is pushed out wide he struggles to get into the game. He's pretty decent at CM too. I think he plays far better with Sturridge in the team. I'm not going to say he had a good game (Studge) but there were a few positives such as the chemistry he has with Coutinho. This game wasn't the best example of that but usually they're both quite fluid which allows them to really do what they feel like doing. Sturridge did look disinterested but the few times he was on the ball you could tell he was a player that knew what he was doing. You can often see that Sturridge is Coutinho's first choice when it comes to one two's because he is the only forward who knows how to play them properly. He's good at dribbling and good at holding it up. That being said, he needs to get his head together. He may be holding back because of Euro hopes or just trying to get to the summer, but he's not looking to get forward as much as he should, at the very least. I don't think he's as bad as we are making out though. If he gets a break in the summer not related to an injury, he might come back refreshed. Players often come back physically ready but mentally burnt out from extended injury. I want to see him in a proper Klopp team because he's quality. Moreno had a good game. He was beaten a few times by Son running behind him (he just needs to become more mindful of runners) which should alleviate pressure on Sakho. Wasn't Clyne's best game but if anyone's entitled to an off day its him.
