Any other day that would be 3 points. Cannot fault second half effort other than too many high balls to Defoe. Mags lost but I cannnot see Norwich getting many more points so we need to make our extra game count. Sam got his clean sheet!
It could have been worse, I'm going to try not to dwell on what might have been. It's another point and a clean sheet.
Really thought we might lose today due to pull pulis affect but -not bad 0-0 with a clean sheet The Mags lost so important now for 3pts against The Foxes - I know totally unexpected but we do this type of thing I don't feel confident for the Canaries match after the way we capitulated to them up here - but ...we are Sunderland anything can (and will) happen
Well we deserved the win and played well but i think Norwich handed both us and Newcastle a relegation spot with that late winner. A clean sheet was finally a great thing to get but we should of backed that up with at least a 2 nill win. The positive news is that we probably will have our derby games next year!! The only glimmer of hope we have is the Norwich game but we need to win that and then still get 1 or 2 more points than Norwich over the remaining games and i think they have easier games than us.
Still completely in our hands. Beat Norwich and win the game in hand and match them in every other game and we're safe. Easy as that <whistke>
If Norwich beat Palace next week you'll be forgetting about Norwich and hoping to better Palace. If they win that and you guys don't beat Leics I think that's it for this season. Three huge teams dropping into the Championship.
I must be a harsher judge than you mate. I thought that was mediocre at best. No real quality there. West Brom are already on the beach and we couldn't break them down. A couple of half chances were all we had. Hoofing the ball up to little diddy Defoe is never the way forward. I get what everyone's saying about Mannone now. His distribution is awful. Borini worked hard, as did Khazri. Why did Sam take him off? And Yedlin. Oh dear. Thinking of billing the club for my petrol money.
Great performance by the lads today. We are looking stronger and stronger as each game goes by. We know we lack a bit cutting edge up front but there's goals in us. Only thinking of the positives at the moment and no time for any negatives. It's not easy playing in these games but we have a nucleus of a really good team. There all fighting for each other. At the beginning of the season we were dead on our feet. I think Norwich will find a totally different Sunderland team to the one they played earlier in the season. We have experience of being in this position many times and somehow we find a way out. Everyone needs to just keep their nerve now and as I have said many times before...."faint hearts win **** all"......haway the lads!!!!!
Just got back from the match Billy on the way home i was just thinking i've just watched 70 minutes of football and 20 minutes waiting for West Brom to take free kicks/goal kicks and throw ins. Their keeper was the worst and that Baldy t**t in the black just let them get away with it.
Well that was ****e. WBA were completely disinterested yet still had us in their pocket, All they did was cut off and stifle our flanks and watch their CB's mop up the long balls aimed at Defoe. 4 points a drift. We're looking doomed, and deserve to go down frankly.
Disappointing result but Foster will never luckier, Borinhi never unluckier in return. Seven shots on goal and all of them good efforts that could so easily have brought a goal. Biggest frustration is the Mannone to Defoe aerial pass but movement off the ball by other players is just not there. I think there is more positives than negatives to be taken from this game.
Ours (4 points adrift) Leicester H Norwich A Arsenal H Stoke A Chelsea H Everton H Watford A Norwich (4 points safe) Crystal Palace A Sunderland H Arsenal A Man Utd H Watford H Everton A Mags (6 points adrift) Southampton A Swansea H Man City H Liverpool A Palace H Villa A Tottenham A Palace (7 points safe) Norwich H Everton H Arsenal A Man Utd A NewcastleH Stoke H Southampton A Gulp!
Putting my neck on the line here but I thought Sam got the line up wrong from the start. Catts, M'Vila and Kirchoff is far far too negative. We needed to play higher up and get at them. We huffed and puffed but couldn't score. Hugely disappointing result, more points dropped, the story of our season.
I think you're spot on. That WBA side was disinterested. There for the taking. Despite WBA putting absolutely no pressure on us, we still couldn't string a pass together and ball still went long to Defoe. Why was the goal disallowed by the way? Bit far away.
