I wasn't contemplating playing Maguire as a forward. It is about what his whole game brings to the team, especially in terms of breaking out of defence, distribution and ability in the box at set pieces or when he goes on a run.
Yes points will be dropped, but will enough be dropped and are we capable of taking advantage and winning at least 6 games?
The bad run suggests it is broke. It is not sufficient to rely on strikers for goals and attacking play
All our remaining games are winnable. Apart from Derby County all the other teams we play have a negative goal difference.
I prefer Maguire at this moment because he will bring something different that Dawson isn't providing
Agree they are winnable, but given form, are we suddenly going to have a long winning run? I very much hope we do achieve this but the independent media seem to have largely discounted us from the automatic promotion race.
Our recent form: we drew at home to Brighton (one of our promotion rivals), Sheffield Wednesday (another promotion rival), MK Dons ( a triumph of negative football) and Nottingham Forest. We came back from a goal down against MK Dons and Forest. We beat Ipswich away and lost to Birmingham City and Middlesbrough both by the odd goal. I wouldn't say we have had a run of poor form.
We didn't win any you mention bar Ipswich and we aren't scoring goals. To cap it all our Manager was at first in denial of a goal scoring problem when it was put to him earlier in the drought by Sky. He seems reluctant to change systems whilst admitting teams have figured out how to stop us. We are not getting results that will lead to automatic promotion. Despite this Bruce's actions and interviews do not suggest that he or his support team know how to fix it, no ideas, non-intervention approach that got us relegated last year. However, it is too risky to suddenly replace him now, which is why I focused on Phelan earlier. For the final games he could do with an assistant who can bring a burst of enthusiasm and ideas..... Holloway may be?
We conceded 4 goals in 7 games. During those 7 games we played 3 in the top 6 and 2 who had a good shout at getting into the top 6. I would say we have done well enough to expect 6 wins from our remaining fixtures. That's 6 clean sheets and 1 goal a game. Both of which are more than likely to happen.
Does that make them right though? The independent media have as much ****ing idea who is going to get promoted as anybody on here.
I think Maguire up front is a daft idea as well, but if it's what other people think then fine, I'm not going to get upset about. A forum is all about opinions.
I think there's at least a 50% chance that we'll switch to a 3-5-2 against Bristol, we simply don't look dangerous enough at the moment and we can't afford to drop more points at home.
We've conceded gaols all season. Our longest league run without conceding is 4 games and that from February to March.
