They would still have to apply, register, fill the forms, take the test, it's not like it would take them 1 day to get the passport.

See I thought this too but probably for different reasons. I imagine you see them via a UKIP viewpoint whereas I chortled at the idea of Rosicky, Flamini, Arteta and Gnabry being held up as players we'd miss. PS I'm back.
