I was starting think he'd end up leaving us having never played a first team game anywhere. He's gone to Cambridge United.
Just looked and he's 20. He shoulda been out on loan a year ago. Saying that someones got to want him on loan. He's really got to pull up some trees. When's his contract up? If he's got another year then he's still got time to make it with us, but...
He was destined for greatness a few years ago. Has the club broken him or has he broken himself? Our development record for young players quite simply isn't good enough.
Clark came on as a 55th minute sub. They got stuffed 3-0. They're 6 points off the play offs so it could be a good loan.
I dunno how recently, but we've definitely had players out on loan playing for our youth/reserve teams before. Might have been prior to the current EPPP system though.
But our U21s are one of his clubs, and as it's a short term loan between 2 English clubs it's got nothing to do with UEFA or FIFA.
I've got a mate involved at Cambridge, and apparently he looked tidy when he came on as a centre midfielder
He is a tidy little player. He'll be a league footballer, of that I have no doubt, just a shame it probably won't be with us unless we lose all our midfielders for some reason. Maybe we will see him in the cup games? He's the captain of the U21s, so he's probably the next off the conveyor belt.
He's already contracted for the 2016/17 season, so he's got another year to prove himself, either making the cup squad, or out on loan.
If we don't go up, pending how well the loan goes I'd expect to see him in and around the first team, funds will be tight. Like you say it might be in the cup squad, but also against weaker teams in the division. Which could be few and far between next year.
Well Bruce has surprised me recently, we had Dixon, Luer, CJM and Tymon this season, in the past we've had Watson on the bench and Dougie Wilson feature (I've probably missed one or two). So under Bruce it hasn't been terrible, but you're right, our track record as a club is appalling.
Wilson was under Barmby. Watson was only ever included as an emergency 4th choice, not out of choice. I agree I've also been surprised recently with the likes of Tymon, but I still think it's very unlikely that Clark will play next season for example.
I thought Dougie Wilson played in our cup game in our first season under Bruce? Against Accrington was it? EDIT: It was Leyton Orient, January 2013, so yeah, under Bruce. It was East, Cooper and Bradley that broke through under Barmbs, but as you said, it was out of necessity as we had no centre halves.
