    Another brave act <applause>

The irony is, that you are boasting that your country is defined by the appalling criminal and murderous acts committed by some of its populace.

If that's how you want to see your country - the country of horse killers, and murdering cowards - that's entirely up to you. <ok>

Irish Republican's to do list :

    Monday

Learn a new song about green fields and harps or some other crap
    Blow up a horse
    Shoot someone in the back
    Sing my new song
    Take the moral high ground
Reflect on how much of a heroic romantic I am

Is there not a way of making this an Irish/Catholic/Republican/British/Protestant/Unionist sticky where those who give a hoot can indulge themselves at their leisure. What started of as a nostalgic thread about Easter Eggs has degenerated into an undignified litany of rants.

Do they do Caramac Easter Eggs any more? Had them when I was a wee lad and remember waking up from the sugar coma thinking they were lovely.

I think politicians sending young men to war to increase theit hold on an empire nobody wants to be a part of is far more cowardly

And let's be fair. Those republicans in 1916 had no chance of winning yet took up old firearms and pikes to face the 20000 men of the empire.

That may be many things but it isn't cowardly

    20,000 ?

There was no British army in Dublin.

There were 400 soldiers there, almost all of whom were drunk at Tipperary races, on the day the risers began their slaughter.

What need for an army was there when there was no imminent threat of invasion of the British Isles ? The army was off fighting a real war, not some half baked lark.

If those involved were too stupid to realise that there would be reprucussions for running round Dublin in broad daylight, shooting people, that's their look out. Bravery and stupity are not the same thing. The vast majority never even knew it was going to happen anyway. They had all been told hat it was just an 'exercise'.
