......,,,,]If Junior in this form would stay for 20K, I suspect they will bite his hand off...but suspect he would get what he is earning now in China or Turkey or at Derby/Hull/Middlesboro/Burnley on promotion

I'm not sure that the extra wages would persuade Junior to move to where there is such poverty, misery, a defined language barrier and limited prospects of a decent education for his new child. I suppose the China or Turkey options might be attractive though.

Hall won't be on anything like £20k. All the others you've mentioned will be on far more.

It depends what average you want to take. I don't know the exact numbers but if you took every senior player in the division from Burnley to Bolton you'd be looking at £5-8k, inflated by a small number of clubs paying daft money which still includes us, Derby and Boro.

As it seems you can't search the Internet Jimbo (how did you ever find this place?) let's see if you can figure out a table.

Given that many in our squad will be earning in excess of half a million quid a year, they can all start trying a **** of a lot harder.

What league would you be in on current income?

Sorry should have said Chery won't be on that sort of money either I'd expect.

Netherlands a good place to shop given their low average wage. Low for football that is.

This figure is massively brought down by the lower teams though no ? I thought we were punching a bit higher than 9k ?

Ok so 30k is unreasonable maybe ..... If you read my post I actually amended to what the average salary of the top 8 teams is I'm sure it's a lot higher than 9k ...

But we know that the top team, Burnley, pays the average or less. And we also know that our supporter generated income is less than £8m, so we really can't afford to pay more than the average anyway, once parachute payments are gone we would be straight back in FFP trouble, unless somehow we make a lot of money selling players. This idea that we can buy our way into promotion contention is a non starter. We have to find good, cheap players from elsewhere, given that we don't seem to be able to develop any of our own.

I wonder what Jordan Rhodes and Ross McCormack are on? McCormack has scored 21 goals in a now relegation threatened team, that managed 2 wins over us (7-1 agg).

If you took out the top five wage payers in The Championship, I would think that the average salary would drop to £5k.

I would also thnk that only two of the top paying clubs are in the top eight of the league table! This would demonstrate how excessive our wage structure has been & why the HR side was the highest earners in second level history*.

*This is based on what I have read rather than personal knowledge of the salaries paid.

This listing indicates Ross McCormack is on £29,615/week (not sure what Bryan Ruiz, out of contract now, moved on, was doing on that salary)

    Name--------Yearly Salary (£)---Contract Valid--Worth--Weekly Wages

    Ross McCormack £1,540,000 30-06-2018 £6,160,000 £29,615

    Bryan Ruiz £4,400,000 30-06-2015 £4,400,000 £84,615

According to this, Middlesborough inherited Rhodes' £42,000/week salary:-

    2.184 million GBP
    2012

MIDDLESBROUGH are making a stunning £14million bid for Blackburn star striker Jordan Rhodes.

The deal would be the biggest-ever for a Championship player — beating the £11m Fulham paid Leeds for hitman Ross McCormack last summer.

Boro would have to pick up his salary of £2m-a-year and Gibson is prepared to do that and give him a five-year deal.

According to the Ipswich press, which I admit I have never found reliable, £5k per week is the maximum wage at The Tractor Boy's.

If a team pays its players £35k a week and they get promoted then of course they are worth every penny. The gamble is paying high wages to players who promise a lot but who end up failing to deliver the goods leaving the team stuck with a massive wage bill and no golden ticket to the Premiership.

There have been very clear indications from the club that it needs to be self sufficient and the days of huge wages will not return unless we get ourselves promoted.

Hoilett has done well recently so no suprise that they may offer a new or extended contract.

That could work as a club policy, and it probably exists already - a cap for the total player wage bill, then Les and Jimmy can pay anybody what they like, as long as the total is below the cap.
