A 'regime' cannot be seen as indicative of a faith - only individuals. I see a lot of what the reports show the Saudis doing as pretty abhorrent, but I don't take it as a blanket indication of how the average Saudi muslim feels and believes.

The polarised views on this forum are well established and unlikely to change through the sort of debate we engage in on here.

I hope we can all agree that it is better for us to offer thoughts and prayers (if so inclined) to the grieving and injured at this tragic time.

Vincent Kompany has set a very good and noble example in his tweet.

Of course my thoughts are with all those who died and were injured, prayers are not going to help.

It's also cathartic to get things off your chest, though it's unlikely that anybody will change their mind, and some opinions may be repellant to some. Think of it as a cry of frustration and rage, and be thankful we have a relatively safe place to do it and aren't out on the streets making things worse.

Death toll mounting, respect to all those killed and hurt through no fault of their own.

Yes. Whoever does this kind of thing is extremely sick scum. Whatever their religious belief or poltical persuasion. There was an equally or possibly even more sick, if such is comparable, scum ( he specifically targeted kids), a Norwegian fascist who did something similar a few years ago where I have been living. And others. This evil is not only done in the name of Islam. Whatever the excuse it is evil.

Christianity has its fair share of fundamentalists too, plenty of whom have murdered for the sake of Religion.

Muslims are not responsible for the acts of a bunch of hate mongers who have nothing good in their life, and who use Religion as an excuse to further their own warped agenda's.

Hatred and mistrust will cloud your views and eventually blind you. Trust me on that.

The haters should be isolated, not ordinary people of any or no faiths.

This is a thread about the atrocities in Brussels, not a place to throw out cheap anti-religion jibes. This is exactly what RTID was saying, and you agreed by doing just what he said we should avoid. So you're not helping things mate...

Our security services are among the best in the world.
    Unfortunately, the Belgians aren't.

There have been countless attacks thwarted here. A few you would of heard about. Many many more you wouldn't.

I agree our security services are second to none when it comes to uncovering terrorist plots before they can strike...

This from the Guardian last November:

"The Syria-based Belgian jihadi suspected of planning the bloody attacks that killed 129 people in Paris died a day ago in a hail of police bullets, French officials confirmed, raising serious questions about how one of Europe’s most wanted men could travel freely around the continent.

Confirmation that a top terrorist suspect had travelled into and through the EU from Syria on at least two occasions in the past 12 months, passing checks in countries including Belgium and Germany without alarms being triggered, has put European leaders under intense pressure to get a grip on Europe’s external and internal borders."

Belgian has the highest amount of people in Europe leaving the country to be jihadist.

Agree our security services are good but i listened to an ex-security service chief on Radio4 who said it's not NCIS/James Bond stuff it's been about luck and we won't be able to stop it if it happens here. Chilling words which bring it into perspective.

It may well have something to do with Schengen, Finglas, which is fundamental to the EU on the Continent of Europe.

It seems likely that this is a revenge attack for the recent arrest of Abdeslam. That being so, wherever they are born, the perpetrators are ISIS operatives and as such would probably obtain their instructions and bomb making components from Syria or Iraq. Abdeslam and his compatriots travelled freely in the borderless zone.

The more this evil seeps through to the UK, the more likely there will be an attack on London

Germaine Lindsay was Jamaican living in Buckinghamhire.

His other half is "The White Widow", Samantha Lewthwaite, white, English born and bred in Buckinghamshire. Gone on to to even worse than him.

Why don't we turn every thread into a discussion on Brexit Goldy?

I find it stomach churning that you have turned this thread into a discussion to suit your Brexit beliefs, considering the fact that there is a separate thread to discuss the issue that is so close to your heart. Personally, I am more concerned with the victims and their families.

Haven't watched any of it nor will I
Best to think about the loss of human life nothing else IMO
Saying that more people died today in Europe because of Flu
IMO never let the fear win
You can't stop these ****bags and to start comparing security services is stupid why the blame game?
I like to study any other news on days like these because there will be important things done and hidden today IMO
    We are soft targets today
How many dead? I have no idea but one is enough to me so I bet the deadlines lead with numbers?
