If the poor supporters of Middlesbrough FC are wondering why things are suddenly going wrong they need to look no further than the Curse of Bustino.

    curse of bustino.jpg

A seldom-used phenomenen but how silly of an officer of that club to cross Bustino. My apologies to any correspondents on here who support Middlesbrough

No, I was unhappy back with Maastricht. There was plenty not to like with Lisbon but the fact is that the original Treaty of Rome contains most of the bad news in the small print that Heath, Wilson, Major and Co. neglected to mention about the single state. Astonishingly, I now find myself agreeing with Tony Benn’s 1975 view that this is unworkable and undemocratic, even though we were on different sides of the political divide.

Also, we are only getting the Referendum because Cameron had to commit to it to save half his backbenchers from UKIP at the General Election; otherwise we would have a minority government or a coalition propped up by one of the Northern Ireland parties.

Tongue-in-cheek by you or by Afd? It was reported on the BBC – if it had been on Fox/Sky News, I would have known it was b*******.

If it wins them votes in Germany it might be in UKIP’s pledges by the May local elections.

I did not mean it was not true, just don't think she was being serious. As for yours truly, everyone on here knows I have not a clue on tongue-in-cheek stuff, and so that would include posting one............:emoticon-0100-smile

I play a fair bit of small stakes, online poker. And like most betting activities, it manages to draw in those who tend to believe in conspiracy theories. One of the favourite gripes concerns what they believe to be Russian cheats who somehow are rigging the games. Even when playing micro games where a buy in can cost as little as a few cents, these people are certain that they're being ripped off. These folks sincerely believe that Russian heavies are out in force, trying to rip a hand full of coins from them. Paranoia on steroids. Of course most players view these rants for what they are ... the ravings of **** wits. The clip below is a parody built on the fears of these idiots. It's well made and quite funny.

Oh dear, oh dear, seems I, and others, have 'stagnated' and are not doing our bit with regard to ale intake. I must improve with immediate effect, and request others do the same:

    http://www.bbc.com/capital/story/20160316-the-search-for-the-worlds-cheapest-beer

"This is an indication of a wider trend in Europe and other regions – beer consumption has stagnated or fallen in many countries such as France and Germany."

    Sod it, anyway....<cheers>

    "What are you talking about?"
    "There, by the porch."
    "That's Geoduck and Crowbar."
    "Who?"
"Geoduck and Crowbar. They sell fish."
    "Fish?"

From one of the all time great movies, High Noon. A brilliant song from the movie released nearly 65 years ago.

In the local Wetherspoon today there is an A4 print out of a Guardian article from 28th February that mentions boss Tim Martin, which presumably all managers have been told to display as it advocates big business getting involved in the EU debate rather than just blindly signing up to whatever the government or the Remain campaign put out (only a third of the FTSE 100 companies signed the Remain letter). The article does make some fair points but I expect that the Out leaning is why it is on display.

I do wish that the EULeaveOfficial Twitter people would stop retweeting every single tweet from the Grassroots_Out Twitter feed as they are clearly going for some sort of record with hundreds of tweets a day. I am only following the former but it is hard to find anyone else’s utterances through the retweeted Grassroots_Out forest.

For the last forty or so years, the Tory Party has been at war with itself over Europe. The in-fighting destroyed John Major’s government after Maastricht and the backbenches are still riven by Eurosceptics.

With a large minority of the cabinet joining the Brexit campaign against the PM and the Chancellor, claiming that IDS quit the DWP because of Europe were a really bad strategy, especially when the government line is being espoused by unelected Pension Minister Ros Altmann and the Defence Secretary Michael Fallon. This smacks of desperation.

It looks like Gideon Osborne’s chances of following Dave into No. 10 are diminishing fast. The Quiet Man has become quite noisy in throwing the toys out of the pram over cuts to Disability Benefits. By 24th June, the Cameron brand could be irreparably tarnished whatever way the vote goes.

Been chatting to an Accountant friend, who had to write a report and do a presentation on the Budget for a client, regarding Brexit. He basically says that he can see all the pieces being moved around on the Global Chessboard but hasn't worked out the end game yet. His view was that if Britain came out then, in the short term, it would be beneficial to Britain economically due to their strong trading position inside and outside Europe. However, with Britain out several other countries would come out (and therefore be able to control their own currencies) and would want the same terms as Britain. With the weaker countries out, there would be, effectively, a Germany controlled EU and.the Euro would become stronger against the British Pound. Putin would try to pick up the Eastern defectors making them a stronger opposition to Europe and America militarily. China owns a large chunk of America with America owing money it will never be able to afford to pay back. America is trying to play the strong arm but is not as strong as it was. China is becoming the strongest force. Korea is a dodgy place. The risk or war will increase significantly. History shows that after so many years of recession with countries owing money that they can't repay, there will be a war.

All that cheer from the Festival seems to have faded into the distant past. Wish I hadn't asked him.

Look at this, and that with that other monster, Breivik, complaining that his solitary confinement is worse than execution? What a mad mad world we live in:

Did he put in the caveat about Britain actually fighting its corner for a proper deal with Europe rather than doing a poor deal like Norway have and keeping the “freedom of movement” nonsense that is never going to be workable?

If the big debtors decide to quit, the Euro is dead and the biggest creditors like Germany are in huge trouble. That is why they did not kick Greece out.

See previous – the Euro would be dead. Germany already controls the EU economically. The Project is driven by the failing Socialists in France, wanting to drag everybody else down to their level.

This is nothing to do with Europe. China has been buying up American debt for years and the Americans have an economy built on worse debt than our own. Obama wants Britain to stay in the EU because if we quit TTIP will lose a massive part of its appeal to American corporations. When the great unwashed vote to stay in on 23rd June, they are writing the death warrant for the NHS.

    Oh he has <laugh>

He was looking at the bigger picture QM not just Europe. Interesting though that with the weaker countries out you believe the Euro will be dead and he thinks it will be stronger. Can't wait to try him with that one. Must remember to print these bits off though so it sounds as if I'm knowledgeable.
