How'd the race pan out guys? Did he kick on 2 out? What was the winning margin? Really happy for connection there, especially Queally, sounds like they got it spot on
Odddy Frankel made all but only at a steady pace - Canford trakced him all the way but never looked like landing a blow - won easily 4 l or so ???
Wow, surely they have to send him further now? He's beaten the best miler around, is it up to 10F next? If he settles so well, might he get 12F?
Mightly impressive, ive seen some horses but dont think anything has come as close to Shergar as FRANKEL, absolute quality and a pleasure to watch
Wow! I thought it would be close but Frankel has absolutely killed CC, just how good can this horse be?
Seriously, if he settles he will win any race from 6 furlongs to a mile and a half, I agree with Francombe. That was marvellous. Oddy, slow early pace so Frankel took it up but he didn't pull as much as he has before. Cranked the pace up and then as soon as he was given an inch of rein he took 2 lengths out of Canford Cliffs. He then powered to the line inside the distance. Canford Cliffs hung which was a surprise but he had nothing to offer against Frankel today. Well done to young Tom, that was a calm and precise ride and he deserves a massive amount of credit. I am going to say it, get him to the Arc, let him trounce them over 1m4 and put his name in the record books for ever more. Sublime
Oddy, they all came out even, Queally held on to Frankel looking around to see if anyone wanted to lead. Dettori on RDLP and the French horse sat at the back so Queally reluctantly had to take a lead. He had a good hold of Frankel who set a very steady, even pace. Canford tracked him all the way but Queally did not panic, Frankel on the bridle all the way and cruising, Canford asked for an effort 2 and a half out, Queally pushed the button on the 2f marker and he quickened clear to win by 5, Canford drifting in the final furlong.
Thanks for the descriptions lads, awful being stuck here with no piccies but am already drooling about seeing the replay tonight
He's the best miler in the game, no question If left to run his own pace, he'll flog anything, including So You Think at 10F. But 12F with the pace on is a whole other ball game. I'm not saying he can't win, but it would be one hell of spectacle.
Fantastic Frankel! Never ever thought I'd see Canford Cliffs get blown away! Congratulations to Woolcombe, OddDog, et al, who showed their faith in him. Will never forget this race! Very happy for Sir Henry, and Tom Queally too!
It has to be remembered that the time wasn't all that flash too. This race, the way it was run, heavily favoured a more sprinting type.
Would love to see him stepped up in trip but I worry that the concerns over stud fees might prevent that, given that trying him over 10 and 12f might take away his unbeaten record. I tell you what though, if he could stay settled on the inside in a race like the Arc, he'd certainly make headway up the straight. Whether he'd gallop to the line is another question, though. Try him at 10f and see how it goes?
Frankel is a freak of nature. The best horse I've ever seen. I thought the downhill Goodwood track would suit Frankel and CC couldn't keep up.
Should I comment about CC running 4 lengths under form? Its a race like that which makes you realise how lucky we have been in the last few years, Zarkava was the French heroine, then Sea The Stars was superb and now Frankel has taken it up another level for me.
