Adomah made the cross, cutting in on the right flank, hitting it with his left. Adomah isn't a left back.
I thought over all we played decent but like a number of games before we have either been as good as or better than the other team how ever its that same old problem lately of not scoring goals, when a cross goes in who in our midfield/forward line is going to get on the end of it with an header. Lets be honest though they were not that good and we deserved a point wasn't it the first attempt on target in the 91st minute. Something has to change with these lack of goals its no good been the better side but finishing with nothing. If our points tally doesn't improve quickly we are going to be fighting to get in the play offs if were not careful and I cant believe I'm saying that but its the truth, the frustrating thing is I haven't seen a team better than us this season on over all play but at the end of the day its goals that count.
Brucey set us up exactly as I thought he would, and he nearly came away with a draw. The big positive last night was Tom playing in a deep midfield role and protecting the back line which he did fantastically. The role suits his game although I appreciate some on here think he's better suited to playing further up the park. Whilst i understand why Abel didn't start, he is our leading goal scorer and not starting him surely handed the incentive to Boro. He's player who does his business in the opposition's penalty box, what he's lacking is effective support. Every ball he received when he did come on was short direct to feet, absolutely nothing to run onto behind their defenders. In a way that reflected our whole build up last night, yet again toooooooooooooooooo slow! It was also clear that Abel was instructed to stay in the middle of the park, unlike Aluko who had free rein to go wherever up front, often dropping deep onto the wings. Personally I would have kept Aluko on when Abel came on. Now to Robbo and Odubajo, both guilty of giving the ball away too often, though both improved. It's obvious that their role is yes to defend, but when we have the ball to get up the park and support the attack; ideally getting crosses in. Last night Robbo attacked well, and got past his man a couple of times in each half; it would have been more but Clucas didn't return his pass or simply stood in his way. As for Odubajo, he didn't take Friend on once during the whole match! Good return from Jake, Daws and Curtis played well overall. I can't remember their keeper having one 'difficult save' to make, neither did Greegsy which reflected two teams playing short on confidence. I look at the top 6 teams and unfortunately conclude that we have the weakest overall striking options, allied to Bruceys tactics feel it's the lottery of the play off's for us. If you had offered that at the beginning of the season, I'm sure we all would have taken that, somehow however expectations have been raised given the players we held onto. I for one hope the two week break works in our favour. Have a good weekend folks
So the scientists are deciding our line up???? Brilliant. How come tennis players can play 10 hours plus a week and be fit , and be on the practice courts in between but footballers are tired. Absolute tosh!
Agree. We can defend well, play well at times, but goals win games. Despite regular good crosses coming in from our wingers, we don't seem to be able to get a decent header on the balls. Also, our throw ins do my head in! I don't know why we bother, more often than not it goes straight to the opposition, we can't seem to make anything from throw ins. I would hope these are things to work on in training?
I don't know what you're on about, the cross came from their right flank, Adomah played it with his weaker left foot. Their left back, George Friend, was on the opposite side of the pitch. Should Clueless hve been marking him instead?
Hernandez has missed sitters this season and last. It was a very realistic goal to be top 2, and nothing we have seen this season from other teams has suggested otherwise.
A good post, but if I can pick up on one thing… Dave didn't get past Friend once because he was likely told to stay where he was and stop Friend getting forward as he is one of Boro's best attacking options. Dave's a forward going full back as he has shown regularly. They, Boro, are almost identical to us as a team in many ways, their attacks coming from wide and not through midfield. And unfortunately, we are as ****ing boring as they are.
I agree; however as I said if offered the play offs at the outset post a poor season and relegation I think most if not all would have taken it?
I presume that's aimed at me, apologies. Not so much intentional as poor 'placing' of my responses. Got it 50% right!
