Sainsbury's win their court case against Bristol Rovers FC..

The court's ruling spells the end of Bristol Rovers' long legal campaign to force Sainsbury's into going through with the deal.
The club, which was refused permission to appeal further to the Supreme Court, now also faces enormous legal costs bills.
A Sainsbury's spokesperson said: "We're pleased that the Court has robustly dismissed Bristol Rover's appeal and ruled that the conditional contract lawfully ended in November 2014.
"We have been trading in Bristol for over 45 years and will continue to work with the local community via our existing stores which are extremely popular with customers."

The club is expected to make a statement later..

I don't take any glee in seeing this. I hope the Jordanians do in fact have the cash to allow the Gas to move forward and build the UWE stadium. Bristol, as a city, deserves it...and my alma mater will benefit too!

Clearly Sainsbury's legal people were a bit cleverer than those of the Rovers in that they built in caveats. Still the same happened with Ashton Vale and BCFC. SL and his buddies are still counting the cost of that, now its somebody else's turn.

It may have been lawful, but is it right morally?

I'm on Rovers side on this one.

Of course the Jordanians could hire Redknapp as their next manager seeing as he now has ties over there.

The only reason the slags kept on with this joke of an appeal was to string UWE along
so they did not build something else. They always knew they would lose but used the
time to negotiate the sale of the club.

Why they have done nothing illegal. To me its no different than pulling out of a house deal. The law is there to protect all of us. The recent case has demonstrated that Sainsbury's built in perfectly legal provisions . More fool Rovers for not spotting ttem. A fool and his money...........

Great in theory. But I'll warrant there are many more people who have no interest in football that shop at Sainsburys than those who do.
