Davies it a great example of someone who was out of favour and out of form who has fought his way to a new contract.

Huddlestone and Elmo could learn a lot from him.

If the club believe Junior and Meyler are worthy of new contracts then Davies is a no brainer

Can only see Harry getting pissed off and looking elsewhere, unless Daws goes

Great news that he's signed a new deal. Centre backs and keepers can usually play longer at a higher level - John Terry and Rio Ferdinand are testament to that - so good to see him committing his future. Going to be interesting to see how Maguire handles it though because he'd want to be playing pretty regularly as of next season, so I wonder if Dawson will move on if we don't go up.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Gary Gardner, on loan from Aston Villa, took to Twitter to congratulate Hull City defender Curtis Davies on Wednesday afternoon.

Hull have just given Davies a new contract and the Forest man congratulated him on social media, having caught up with him on Tuesday night.

The pair, both ex-Aston Villa, exchanged messages and Davies joked that Gardner had 'ruined' his day on Tuesday.

Indeed, Nottingham Forest beat promotion-chasing Hull at the KC Stadium thanks to Gardner's fantastic strike.

Aston Villa fans may have been watching that strike questioning exactly why the club decided to loan the 23-year-old out...

Aston Villa travel to Swansea City on Saturday evening, while Nottingham Forest face a grudge match at Derby County during Saturday's early kick-off in the Championship.

Hull, meanwhile, travel to Middlesbrough on Friday night looking to get their promotion chase back on track.

A win could move Hull back into the automatic promotion places but Boro are a point ahead of Steve Bruce's side after their defeat to Forest.
