It's been a long time since anyone's been able to say that. Small steps at the moment though.

You are entitled to your opinion but why did so many opportunities break down, individually they were doing all that could be asked of them

I think if Sissoko wasn't so unbelievably useless is every regard, we could of snatched a draw. I know it's easy to blame a single player, but he simply has no end product, or near completed product in fact.
He should have set up a goal in the second half, he was completely clear in the box, 90% of the teams in this league would of poked a goal in and punished Leicester, yet again Newcastle can't string together a decent pass in the box.

Overall, the performance was damned better than we've seen in weeks, I'm still confident we can survive. But, we are lacking in any sort of attacking threat.

EDIT: Not to mention, what is this thing with the NEED for a through ball? It appears Wijnaldum cannot foresee a pass directly to his feet, and seems to prepare a run straight through players. Sometimes I'd like to see our lads just pass it around, relax and retain some possession, something they've not been able to do since Hughton left.

And don't get me started on Mitrovic & Sissoko tripping over one another in the box, that is basic football. That French bloke needs to be sold, completely useless.

Three players infuriate me and have done al season. Sissoko is a poor player. Awful in fact. Janmaat. Is a very poor defender. And going forward he is ok but exposes us he inevitably gives the ball away.

But mitrovic has to be the slowest player and biggest waste of 13 million. As a forward he does nothing right at the moment.

Special mention to de Jong who's is not anywhere near premiership quality.

That's 4 players who where bought as purple players who are no where near premiership standard. That is where the problem lies.

Mitrovic might just as well be a lump of concrete on wheels pulled by a couple of Yorkshire Terriers for all the mobility and pace he shows, has about the same level of brainpower, Anita gave the ball away far too much as well and in situations where he wasn't under any real pressure, just poor passing choices. I also was frustrated as to why we had all players back for corners, surely the players can realise that if they are all in and around the 18 yard line then they don't have any outball from the corner and gift Leicester the opportunity to come again if the corner is cleared, tactically any team should put two men halfway to the centre and at least one player on the centre line, the attacking team will have to counter this taking at least 3/4 players out of the attack and the one taking the corner, I would dearly love to see a team do this or even play more players out of the box when facing a corner, it may back fire but the number of times a loose ball comes clear from a corner and could be turned from defense into attack happens quite often, it did a couple of times last night but there was nobody there to take advantage of this.

Personally I thought we were awful. The centre backs did well but only because they weren't really tested or pressured. We know what happens when those two are. I think Rafa definitely made organisational progress, but I think we've left him with too steep a task for the time period allotted. Sissoko was simply awful. Mitrovic may have been trying but his touch was shocking. The ball never stuck and we couldn't get people beyond. Huth etc were rarely stretched as a result. I like Mitrovic and Perez but both have so far to go. I honestly think Benitez needs to consider dropping his favoured formation in favour of 4411 or 442.

I struggle to think of many who had a good game personally outside the centre backs (who I've already stated were flattered). Long way to go and I think given the time to right the ship Benitez would at least get us to some level of respectability. Whether we will manage that in the next 9 games however...

Steven Taylor is the worst defender in the league, and should have gone to Wolves with Williamson. There is simply no one worse than Steven Taylor, he is useless in every single regard.

Mitrovic isn't a striker. Especially not a lone striker, if we really MUST play Mitrovic, stick him with Perez. He has to feed of someone, there is simply no other option other than that. Why the heck they keep placing him up top alone is baffling, it accomplishes nothing. Especially when as soon as he touches the ball, Sissoko is tripping him up with his useless frog legs.

Speaking of Sissoko. This man is a complete disgrace to the shirt. While some players may simply lack ability, Sissoko lacks ability & doesn't give a single ****ing ****. He makes me physically sick whenever he flashes on the television screen, if ANYTHING good comes from us being relegated, it's that there is a high chance Sissoko will see the end of his disgusting football career. He's a useless lazy ****. Hope he rots in the French second division.
