The tempo never got going on Saturday from the start! Why does robbo all of a sudden not want to put a quick cross in? Time again he had the chance to & he either played it back or chose to bring the ball inside and got closed down! Quick balls out wide & get the crosses in!
Lansbury used to he quite good. Not heard of him doing anything for a while mind. I always liked Jamie Ward too. What's Fryatts injury anyone? Shame if his body is starting to fail him. He was always fit and ready for us until his big achilles injury. Hope it's not related.
Fryatt's got an ongoing Achilles problem, it must be a bad one, his last appearance was over a year ago.
None of our injured will be back for starters. Nottingham Forest have much bigger injury worries and absences anyway. So 3 - 5 - 2 for me McGregor Maguire Dawson , Davies Odubajo, Huddlestone, Meyler, Hayden, Robertson Clucas and Hernandez With Middlesboro only 3 days later I don't see Diame doing 2 games in 4 days. Nottingham Forest are a mess atm with little or nothing left to play for. Manager just sacked and with a depleted playing list. 2 - 0 Hull City.
So Barton dives in the penalty area and is given a penalty - Robinson blatantly handballs it & we don't get a penalty. How does that fit in with your "make your own luck" statement?
It's not down to luck that we don't create enough or that our strikers aren't good enough to finish them when we do.
Surely you've seen enough of Aluko!!? I'm pretty sure Alouko would of missed the chances Akpom did but would offer a lot less through out the game. He's awful but every few weeks we all forget his last piss poor performance and call for him to start again? Ideally I'd like to see Powell and Hernandez if he's fit.?
We're not creating any less chances than we were when we were winning - our forwards are no less skillful than they were when they were scoring goals. Rub of the green plays a very significant part when you're having 49 shots in 2 games. It's not the full reason - but it's a very big part of it.
Hernandez and Diame were lazy against Birmingham. That isn't luck. Against MK Dons Hernandez was similarly uninvolved and while Akpom got into good positions, he missed every time. It was poor technique rather than luck, and that's becoming a theme with him. We have one striker who can finish but doesn't get involved enough to get into the positions, and one who misses nearly everything that falls to him. If we could combine the pair of them that'd be nice. Their weaknesses shouldn't be mistaken for luck though. If Bruce just put it down to luck and did nothing about it it'd just keep happening.
And there was silly old me thinking we had scored 49 League goals this season - how on earth have we managed that with such lazy incompetent forwards!
Hernandez' last goal was over a month ago, in the last month and a half (nine games), we've scored four goals, that's not 'rub of the green', it's not being good enough.
