Beye and Bassong

    Apparently we were offer then both. A free for Beye and 4.5m for Bassong. But the club have turned them both down due to having different priorities.

    Both left under a dark shadow but could you see them in the starting lineup. Beye hasnt played a competitive match for nearly 2 seasons and Bassong after what he said.

    I love seeing players that jumped ship rot.

    What did Bassong say? I thought he and Beye left on good terms. They were honest and said they needed to stay in the prem from what I gather, unlike Duff and Martins etc who said they'd stay and fight but then ****ed off at the first sniff of another club coming in for them.

    Would have Bassong back in a shot but Beye is about 32-33 now isn't he? I can see West Ham going in for him.

    I'd love Bassong back, would complete our defensive unit and give us options.

    I'd have Bassong back yeah, 4.5 mil isn't a bad asking price - he's like what, 25? 26? Still young.

    Definite no to Beye though.

    Not sure what Bassong said, but when asked, Joey Barton said that Bassong was a proper twat when we got relegated. Top player though and I agree that Beye is too old.

    Bassong would be a nice addition to the squad.

    Not Beye though - too old.

    Bassong would be a decent short term replacement for Jose, use him LB this season then move him back to CB next season when colo will be a year older and falling out of the club policy of youth

    Bassong would be good back up for LB and CB, but if he's a ****er then wouldn't want him. Beye is too old.

    Would have Bassong back (especially as we might need an emergency LB!) and at 4.5 million we'd even have made a profit on him.

    I think Beye's lost it now, wouldnt even get ahead of Simpson in all honesty, would prefer us to use Tavernier as back up.

    big fan of Bassong, one of the best CB's around when we had him. 4.5m I would rip Harrys ****ing hand off.

    Haha, think we'll be quoting that commentator all season?

    Tavernier sounded pretty useful last night, reckon we'll see more of him this season than I first thought. Anyone know if he can play LB too?

    And to stay on topic, wasn't there a post somebody made on here or the old BBC board about how they'd met Beye and he bought them a drink, saying he wished he'd never left Newcastle? He was a hero for a while, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Think he had a word in Ba's ear about joining and all.

    He says he can play anywhere across the back 4 but prefers RB.

    Bassong was plain AWFUL when he played for us at Left-back!
    but wouldnt want either back tbh, would rather go for someone else or give Kadar a chance, dnt think it would be great for team morale!
