No need to justify your choice, just simply post which horse you think will win the Sussex Stakes. I'm interested to see if it is a close match, in the eyes of Not 606 members. I'll tot up the results shortly before the race. My vote: Frankel
Rajsaman I think they are going to go too fast and I wouldn't be surprised to see the stayer run well above his rating.
You could be onto something there Nass, If Frankel was to try the same tactics as he used at Newmarket and CC tried to sit on his tail, then who knows what could happen. Il still vote Frankel though
Freddie Head hasn't sent the horse over here for nothing. He knows how good Canford Cliffs is, and if he's taking him on he probably thinks he has a chance of beating him. But this race is all about Frankel. If Tom Queally can hold on to the horse (without fighting him) for the first 5-6 furlongs the others won't asee where he went when he hits those afterburners.
Like everyone I'm a massive Frankel fan and have won a lot of money on him but I've been saying since the start of the season the one horse who can put the gun to his head is Canford Cliffs. Will Frankel have an answer? Vote: Canford Cliffs
Frankel, by a couple of lengths. Nass, if you fancy Rajsaman, one of the bookies is offering money back on either of the outsiders if one of the big two wins. That sounds like a bet to nothing so there must be some small print.
Frankel to lead, Canford Cliffs to try and pick him up and Rajsaman to finish over the top of them both.
Just checked the winning times of their last races (Queen Anne & St Jame Palace) - run within an hour or so of each other over the identical course and distance. CC was 0.86 seconds quicker but obviously 2 very differently run races. Probably doesn't tell us anything really, but I thought I'd post it anyway.
Bollox just remebered the Queen Anne is over the straight mile, whilst the St James is round the corner. Makes Frankel look pretty good given the slow early pace - I think the Queen Anne was the truer run race.
Oddy.....I've been trying to find the average time and track record for Ascot's straight and round course, but can't find it anywhere, would anyone know where to find them?
