But how desperate does that make us. Stick a defender up front for 15 minutes because he's massive. That's fair enough if you're trying to avoid the drop, but we've got "the best team in the championship" or so we're told. How much striking talent do we have? We can't be ruling them out because Robertson and Elmo are being blocked off on the wings.
On the bright side, if this team went up they'd only have their arse handed to them on a plate every week and I'm not sure I'd enjoy that. A play-off semi-final defeat for us this season is what I'm expecting.
Karl Robinson: "I'm very proud. I don't mind saying this, Hull are the best team in the league by a long way." #hcafc Poorest ref I've seen all season, although that doesn't excuse our poor first half.
Dogshit first half, most of the players dog ****. 2nd half a bit better. Hayden and Akpom fluffed their opportunitys. Diame is a passenger. I'd go back to 352 personally.
It's kind of him to give our bollocks a tickle, but how are we the best team in the league at the minute. 2 goals in 7 isn't it?
Sick of seeing opposition managers say how good we are before or after getting a result against us. Everyone can see what a good team we should be but we just aren't, and we seem to be happy with being 2nd or below. We should be smashing this division.
I think Rowett said something similar…. maybe a manager coming out and saying ' I thought you were supposed to be good and are actually as **** as us' might be the kick up the arse they need.
2 in 7 and drawn 6 blanks in our last 9 games. Now closer to dropping out the play-offs than top spot.
What occasion was that which got to the players? Playing in a stadium one third empty with a handful of away fans and hardly any home fans making any noise?
As someone said before it's just a way to big up their own team after a result or to excuse a bad result should it happen. We aren't the best team, because Bruce doesn't have the attacking tactics.
That's the problem - we're not a team anywhere except in defence - which is why our defence is so good. When we went off the rails in December, I thought it was because our midfielders and attackers looked like strangers. No one knew where they were supposed to be. Then in January Bruce found the formula, suddenly we were playing as a team, and then winning. Now, we're back to being strangers again. How many times today did the wingers finally break through only to find no strikers in the box. We had three of them on the pitch! Diamé was acting like he was glued to the wing; he's not going to score from the corner flag - if Robertson or Elmo was bombing forward - surely Diamé, Hernández or Akpom should have thought, maybe now's the time to run into the box. No one seemed to have any idea where other players were going to be. Isn't that the tactics part? Aren't players supposed to think - I just have to play my best ball, because my team mates know where that is going to land.
I thought Aluko looked busy when he came on. He came deep, picked up the ball and tried to create things. I'd like to see him start with Hernandez on Tuesday. We need more movement upfront and in midfield and think Aluko will help this.
It's a tough result to swallow given the crapness of the opposition. Something has to change and fast, we can't keep dropping points against these pants teams. It's not exactly panic stations, but we aren't far away and if we don't improve, automatic promotion isn't going to happen. Bruce has to take responsibility for pissing around, the eternal optimists on here need to see that we are struggling and that it's not all going to be fine. The money for next season is so great that not getting promoted could effectively see us stuck in the 2nd tier for years to come. With Newcastle, Sunderland and Villa probably the three to drop, you know they'll be challenging at the top, plus the teams that fail to get promoted this time around. Next season would almost be mission impossible and I'm guessing we would have to do it with a depleted squad. Get it sorted Bruce because if we aren't promoted come May, you won't be getting another chance.
