just watched the highlights and it appears to confirm my impression that Clyne had easily his best game going forward for us . a lot of that was because he often seems a bit half hearted whilst tonight he attacked with purpose.
Thought everyone came out with credit with big shouts to Clyne Firminho and Lallana.

oh it felt great hearing Anfield in full voice for a Euro night again - couldn't care less that it is the Europa nights like this are why we are footie fans

Really positive performance which deserved more goals. Shame we couldn't put it to bed but I suppose it makes the second leg more interesting.

Another clean sheet, the defence starting to look more solid. Don't think it's a coincidence that it's happened since Can's form improved and without Lucas - Can has been brilliant over the past few games. I think he's sacrificed some of his attacking intent to be more disciplined defensively and it's showing.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for his partner who needs to be dropped for Allen, and a midfield schemer needs to be bought in the summer.

Lallana impresses again - is there hope for him? Maybe he can justify a spot on the bench after all. But seriously, he's playing a lot quicker and with intent which is great to see.

Firmino - what more can we say about him? He's only going to get better as well. He's the man we need to build the attack around - he creates, he scores and he works harder than anyone else in the team. He's on course for double digit goals and assists in his first season and he's contributing towards a goal every 100 odd mins which is incredible.

It's a shame we didn't buy him in the summer in which Suarez left because he is the most similar player we could have got (stylistically) to replace the great man.

With Firmino and Origi both running around like Devils and playing well, I think Sturridge needs to up his game ...

Just hope our fans don't resort to chants about the terrible tragedy that befell our opponents at the 2nd leg next week no matter which way the tie goes despite the pure hate about 89 that echoed around Anfield tonight from the visitors section.
Considering the meagre allocation to registered fans of Utd it wouldn't be too hard to find out who they are, the ones that were lucky(pre-game)to get a ticket are supposedly their top notch supporters....they were a disgrace to Manchester United.

Yeah our followers as well as theirs have let our clubs down many times over the same issue but I genuinely thought that paid up members(of either)club's support would rise above that sort of ****e.<ok>

I hope the club makes a short video clip of it, then the next time Man Utd come begging for extra tickets we just send it back in response

I think you all see the difference between a good clearnace and coughing up chances by ****ing up clearances now.

carrick basically coughed up fimino's goal by not clearing

Sahko down the other end got away with his 3 occasions he failed to clear.

Players at CB can have 89 great minutes and **** up once and look stupid.

Lick his balls all you want guys.. you've got to clear your lines first second and third

Otherwise yes but we can't whinge about individual errors costing goals constantly then say well Utd were to **** to capitalise on this muck so it don't count.

Toure and sahko panicked v sunderland and let defoe turn and score. Sahko did the same last night with Mata.
You can play well for 89mins then **** it all up

Carrick screwed the pooch last night.

Look at palace... that **** keeper basically passed it to firmino.

Mistakes change games. Cutting them out is absolutely key to improving.

Look at Smalling letting it over his head diving for a header he misses and sturridge has a huge chance.

    All individual errors

We dominated the game. Klopp tactically out manned van Gaal with his starting tactic and then sub and change.... but there are fine margins at play and the very best just don't make many mistakes.

Hopefully no away goal means we can go there to match them and get an away goal as they must come out and chase the game. The key now is no mistakes and take the chance that comes our way.

I thought Sturridge had another average performance. Origi must be pushing him close for a start
