We need to learn lessons from what has went on and what has been said in recent days. There is nowt wrong with disagreeing with people and having different views, but that surely doesn't mean that a barrage of personal insults should ensue. Also, personal messages should remain just that. Making these public knowledge is surely an unacceptable breach of trust. That's my two penneth anyway...Onwards and upwards eh!
Echo that RAW, this past week has been a sit back and shake head one. Will add that mods are great in their thankless job but backstabbing and rumour mongering is beyond comprehension.
Here here. Agree totally. Any pm I get remains a pm. I was inches away from quitting this board yesterday but I like it on here too much. Need plenty of good members
I thought so mate, and that was one of the reasons that prompted this post.. We have lost enough top posters lately with some of the petty ****e that goes on and we can't afford to lose anymore..
Diddles and me were almost gone Friday, and Pops on Saturday You'd have been the one switching the lights off.
There`s been plenty of all sorts of **** going on. The mods have taken a hammering to the point of `**** it I don`t need this`. tbh me included. To stay on topic, I`ve had conversations behind the scenes and that`s where they`ll stay. It`s all about trust.
True. No argument there. tbh the thought that went through my head was `why the **** do I bother with these ****ing arseholes? answer: safc. Can`t help it.
There's always safc away from here Pops. It's becoming difficult to have a discussion on here without things becoming very personal very quickly. Sometimes we seem to lose the art of bantering on here. At the same time, this place, in my humble opinion, is still the best forum. Like how Tombstone must have been in the Wild West!
There's a hell of a lot more open hostility than there was two or three years ago. It used to be us against the mags, if anything, but we seem to be turning on each other. And not in the good way of being turned on. I think if we keep personal issues with one another to ourselves rather than being encouraged to air them, and stop knocking the mods at every opportunity the board will be a better place to be. Also, PMs should never be posted in any circumstances.
Yes, absolutely, this, hear hear, etc, etc. We seem to be getting a lot of flak recently for some reason. A lot goes on via pm which will stay private. If a subject is discussed in confidence it stays in confidence. That`s it. It`s not a matter for debate.
It's one thing if people aren't on here regularly because they're a bit bored of the banter and there's not many people they click with, that's fair enough and there's nothing that can be done about that. But recently (last year or so) I've noticed quite a few people that aren't posting much because they feel like they're under attack when they do, and the attacks on here can get pretty damn unpleasant at times. Yes there's a certain degree of thick skinnedness that helps with that but I feel that it'd be better if we at least pretended to get on. Some of the arguments on here have been really personal and uncomfortable and if a casual or new forumer popped on to those threads it would put them right off.
Good point. New posters should be encouraged but I can see why they would be put off. On the other hand we are used to each other and we can have a go at each other with no hard feelings where it might seem different to someone on the outside looking in. You`re right though. Could be daunting for somebody thinking about joining in. Interesting concept that.
A possible compromise for those that want to have a slagging match is to have a dedicated sledging thread, where we could take a leaf out of Comm's idea and pit one against the other... However, there still should be boundaries and rules, for example regarding bringing family members into the fray..
