City, Hull City or The Tigers please. I think the crossing was right. Diomande had it in behind them once with a clear run to goal but he was too slow and the chance was wasted, surprise surprise. If the crosses had gone in properly we'd have scored a hatful. Mind you having said that whenever we do cross it properly and win the header it's always a ****ty little flicked header and goes wide. We never connect with the ball properly and it just goes straight in.
I didn't have savage on my stream but sadly I agree in this instance. Powell sitting off him with hudd playing balls for dio to lay off would have made far more sense. Particularly once mertesacker went off.
Yeah its quite strange how Burnley lose Charlie Austin and Danny Ings but its no problem with Sam Vokes and Andre Gray in the building. Yet we find a striker once in a decade.
I'll call them Hull if I want as that's as much part of their name as city and more so than The Tigers unless you support the Doctor.
Hard to tell. He's not looked great so far admittedly other than that worldy he scored at Loftus Road. But he's been injured and back, injured and back, not had any game time to get a feel for it in the UKE or get sharp and has at least showed some nice touches. Can't help but thinking he's ****e though as if he was pulling up trees in training he'd have been involved more by now. That said he seems to hve displaced Aluko and Akpom.
No we wanted Gray, we put a joint bid in for him and Odubajo. But the posturing and procrastination allowed Burnley to move in.
A bit unfair that, the ball that played Dio behind was like an attempt to hit the moon and was bouncing horribly, it met him around his waist. Hard to carry momentum on to the ball like that, it wasn't because he's too slow.
You act as if us losing today was a great injustice, and that the team was a disgrace for doing so. Whether you mean to come across like this is another question of course, but you certainly do to me. You also keep using Leicester as an example, yet seem to forget that Leicester have a much better team than ours. Yes, I do actually understand the notion of not letting an opponent dictate how you play but instead sticking to your strengths and backing yourself to win at home as we did against other premier league sides this season? Do you remember what our main strength is? Oh yeah, defending. What was that about sticking to your strengths again? Because based on that, we did exactly what you suggest tonight. Anyways, I'm off to watch a film. Good night, young sir, and don't let this result haunt you too much. After all, it's only football, not like it's the end of the World or anything else important. Ps. I see you're still to post those quotes or answer my questions to back up your arguments. I shall return in the morning to see your good work.
True but if that was a Walcott or Long type striker he'd have gone clear rather than being caught up and swarmed. I don't think Diomande is the pacey, getting in behind type. City strikers never are.
The team was a disgrace because of how Bruce set us up, both positionally with Odubajo on the left with two left backs on the bench, and tatcically with everyone sat behind the ball passing it tamely backwards and sideways, to the point that Meyler gave the first goal away. So you do understand doing that, but still think little ol' Hull City shouldn't have done so against Mighty Arsenal because of their ability to retain possession? What's our main strength? Breaking on the counter quickly and scoring goals. Which we did very well for large swathes of the season. Not breaking, passing, passing back, pushing up the wings, forcing a corner or FK, and hoping to nick a goal. Spoken like a true supporter "It's just a game" is probably the worst thing to say right now you utter twat.
Who was it who said Diomande clearly had pace because he outpaced Koscielny by muscling past him? Can't remember who it was.
We would have signed him if Jelavic had left earlier. But don't disagree with Quill, you'll be here all night.
Not sure I agree. Gray creates his own chances a lot of the time, and if he comes deep to get the ball then Hernandez is sitting off the shoulder ready for the through ball. Gray would have created plenty of chances for himself and Hernandez, and given defenders a lot of headaches with both of them up top. It's worth contemplating because of how close we got to signing him. It's not like moaning about McCormack or Rhodes who we were never into over the last summer.
Thought 4 - 0 was a bit harsh to be honest. There was nothing in the game until Meyler's moment of madness but once they got ahead their confidence seemed to come flooding back and clinical finishing in the 2nd half made sure there was only ever going to be one winner. Why oh why did Powell go for the glory goal when it was so much easier to play Moses in - it was 1-0 at the time
