From what I can gather various pundits and people on social media seem split on this one, what do you all reckon ? I'm going definite penalty.
I'm saying penalty mainly because it pisses Pardew off, and that's always a good thing. The cockwomble.
Pardew said woudn't have been given at our end....**** me Pards, you don't know much about Crystal Penalty winning Palace's recent history do you old chum
http://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/article/...kers-in-crystal-palaces-history.-2958182.aspx bit rich seeing they even boast about it on their official website
The interviewer says nowt wrong, Pardew is just a massive arsecunt. In hindsight I wish Meyler had full on decked him now.
"felt a touch and was entitled to go down" seems the modern thinking on it. Too many games decided on which millionaire is the best cheat.
I'm the first to call Pardew a prick. But that was never a penalty in a million years. Benteke cheated, went down and by pure luck Delaney's knee touched him as he fell. Disgraceful.
All the replays I've seen definitely show Delaney made a conscious effort to avoid contact. He did. Injustice - except for Pardew & Palace being the recipients. Mixed blessings if Liverpool end up in Europe as a result. TV technology would help in such situations, but who wants that ?
The big clubs don't want it cos one or two dodgy dcisions help them get into higher league positions, Pardew has a valid point however much you might not like him
The angle I saw I thought Benteke started to go down a fraction after Delaneys knee made contact with Bentekes boot. On Talksport Jason Cundy and Stan Collymore said definite dive, Jamie Carragher and Gary Lineker saying definite penalty. We'll find out on MOTD at 10.30 what Mark Lawrenson and John Hartson think.
Both thought it was a penalty. Benteke knew he'd lost control, was already thinking I'll drop if I feel any sort of touch. It was so slight and Delaney clearly removed his foot & leg. That was no penalty in my mind. The rules need to be changed to stipulate "intention" and those taking advantage need penalizing. It's making a mockery of the game. Lawrenson continues to say stuff that is provocative to keep him in a job. He does it well. Hartson just follows and occasionally says something intelligent.
Geoff Shreeves does get these interviews doesn't he? Remember when Daglish went off at him before and he (Daglish) then refused to speak to the BBC straight afterwards because of it so Match of the Day had to show Sky's interview. Edit - There's also the game where Chelsea qualified for the Champions League final and Geoff was straight in there telling players they were banned for the final.
What an idiot, says "My subs were wrong and I blame myself" but then loses it when asked "Why were they wrong?"
