When I began supporting Liverpool they are were at the end of their era as it was during the 89-90 season. However I don't think you know what the term ''glory-hunter'' actually means. Glory-hunters jump on the band-wagon on who is successful,as is evident with the large influx of Man United fans in 1992 who were Arsenal fans in 1991. I cannot be classified as a ''glory-hunter'' as I have pointed out on numerous occasions and don't want to repeat myself.
Not until he was 32, so if he had the physical attributes of a normal full back he would've fizzled out and moved down to a lesser team at 31 and would never have won a league title. By your standards he wouldn't have been a great player. Bit weird, that.
Not really. Was Paul McGrath not a great defender? And I was making the point that different circumstances mean you could or could not win a league title, as in Zanetti's case.
I was 13. Non Glory-hunters do two things and I have proof of this as I know people who were Man United fans in the 70s and 80s when they were pretty awful. And that is embrace and endure, and thats embrace success and endure failure. And I have endured plenty of failure...this is something that is known as loyalty. I wonder how many people will remain Man United fans when their inevitable decline occurs. Raaul. That was the point I made,Man United in the 80s had two wonderful centre halves in Moran and McGrath...the problem was the rest of their team was useless.
no as kpr said about alchaloics they rarely get to their full potential Also my point with mgrath was liverpool had BETTER defenders
This is a ******ed argument, defenders obviously don't have to win league titles to be great, suppose it helps though!
My point was mate, the list that was made, ALL of the defenders listed had won the title at least once except 2 of them who i o not think deserve to be n the list, at what point does carragher rank above jaap stam hahahahah
Make a list of the best defenbders of all time and show me the ones who have not won a title, I bet there are not many
Its definitely ******ed, so its no surprise that it's Comas arguing that it is part of the necessary criteria of being a great defender.
So its just coincidence that the best defenders of all time have all won a league title??? you do not think that makes a team win a league?? or at least contribute MASSIVELY
Bobby Moore(A world Cup winning Captain) Paul McGrath. Kevin Moran. Thats just off the top of my head.
like i said there will be some, moore i will give you, the others do not make me laugh!!!!! Look up worldes best ever defenders and show me mgrath and morans names on it
Thats a stupid arguement as Bruce and Pallister and Adams and Keown are NOT in the list of the worlds best defenders and they won titles. Then again neither are Jaap Stam and Ronnie Johnsen or Ron Yeats and Tommy Smith.
