Game is on about midnight here, so I'll go to bed (set the recorder first) and pray the lads do the biz for us. Get up in the the morning have my first coffee of the day (totally unaware of the result ) and watch what I hope is a similar performance from last season. COYS!!!
Woke up at 7am...and have been wired ever since...can't keep a thought in my head for more than a few seconds without thinking about the bloody match! COYS ... make us proud
Thanks for another great match thread, PNP. It really does set the stage. I’d take them over myself except it would lower the quality too much. Also, I’m lazy. I had said Pochettino never brings an injured player straight back into the starting team. But then he did it once, though I believe it’s been exactly once. So it’s highly unlikely Dembélé will start. It should have been and was a tired team Wednesday, and today is the same. We can only hope Alli is fully fit and back to his best, since he’s one of the handful of starters who might be fresh. I spend pre-game time trying to use philosophy to keep myself from being a nervous wreck, and failing. You know, "They don’t give me any money if they win," that sort of thing. "Just imagine you’re rooting for your team two thousand years ago, sitting on the walls of your city watching a battle, when defeat means you’ll be killed or sold into slavery..." It’s the biggest game of the year, without a doubt, though there are likely to be even bigger ones down the road. Arsenal will probably sit back and try to pick us off, as they did last year, even though it didn’t work at all. I wonder what Pochettino has prepared the team to do. Since Dembélé in all likelihood won’t start, two of the four of Mason, Lamela, Chadli and Son will. I tend to think Lamela is the likeliest of that group, then Mason, but what do I know? On the face of it, it may make more sense to play Mason, since the advantage there is that he and Alli can both play either forward or back. While tired legs have to be a factor, Arsenal have had similar fixture congestion. So it comes down to the psychology of the team. Are we a different Spurs this year? A win would provide evidence that we are. Anything but, and I’m afraid it’s the same old Spurs, at least for now: provide hope, then take it away. It was only Eriksen and Alderweireld who stepped up last game, IMO. We need more than two players to have strong games today.
Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Wimmer, Rose; Dembele, Dier; Lamela, Eriksen, Alli; Kane Subs: Vorm, Davies, Trippier, Carroll, Chadli, Mason, Son
Best and worst match of the season for me....hate and love it in equal measure ... Please just let us beat them bastards today...been up for hours ( unheard of for me on a sat ) pissing of the wife, tryin to get her organised to get out before KO so I can scream at the telly in peace !!!! COYS !!!
