Nope - not on the wind up. Flanno was 'decent' but he was skinned 3-4 times and lost the ball in dangerous areas around 2-3 times. As per usual, he makes a strong challenge early on and everyone starts creaming about him. The best thing he did was tracking Sterling's run in the box and intercepted - that was brilliant to be fair. And his passing was generally good.
But rather than make this all about Flanno, someone else who is constantly criticised was actually really good - Lallana. He was tenacious, covered so much ground, scored a goal, got an assist and a hockey assist - really productive performance where he played quicker and with purpose - very few of those pointless Cruyff turns. Thoroughly enjoyed his performance.
Hahaha, given that you praise that donk Moreno and don't think that Flanagan was anything more than 'decent' last night, I think it's fair to say, you really don't know what you're watching when it comes to defenders
Not sure I've praised Moreno in a while - I may be wrong, I have defended him though? I openly said he's brainless. And let's see how Flanno defends when he's expected to be higher up the pitch and provide an attacking threat all game. Easier to be in position when you stay back.
Great performance. The players played with real passion and wanted to win. Let's take this to the match against Palace. Who knows, with a bit of consistency, the CL could be a real possibility. Milner and lallana played their best match for us. Fingers crossed they'll keep their form in the crucial next few weeks.
We need to just beat palace but get a bit more real... We HAVE to get at least 6th as a minimum requirement for europe. We can realistically catch west ham and stoke but after that... well we will see. We have to get europe again.. for me thats a must and right now that is 6th. If we look at the FA cup... cheslea, everton and west ham... and utd... well... West ham play utd and both are above us thats one of them gone. everton play cheslea.. thats one of them gone.. arsenal have an fa cup replay to get through. My ideal owuld be us in 6th and west ham v arsenal in final so that we've that bit of a margin. Thats the limit of my ambition. Talk of 4th is wild IMO.
To be fair to jimmy (i only watched the first half) flanno got skinned once high up the pitch by sterling and lost the ball twice in dangerous positions that nearly led to a goal. He did however make up for it by getting back and putting in great challenges (the sterling one in particular) and pool looked a lot more solid for it. This city team looks terrible. Guardiola has a job on his hands. Silva is the only one decent enough to make the play and he was up against your midfield 3. I can see why pellegrini plays toure whos a lazy bastard as without him silva is out marked as fernando and fernandino are both a waste of space in the midde in an attacking sense. Couple that with the 2 biggest ball hog and no movement brainless wingers in sterling and navas and aguero just doesnt have a chance. I noticed in the first half your full backs didnt even both marking those 2 tightly preferring to keep it compact to block aguero off
I agree on city. They have been the same all year. we dominated the midfield which shows why henderson is a bottler. Sunday it matters, city did change system slightly with navas added in but there you go. I totaly agree on sterling and navas. they don't aim crosses. however out full backs didn't bother... we are incapable of stopping crosses most of the time.
City were dreadful - one of their worst performances I've seen. We did a good job on them tbf - Can bossed the midfield.
City had played 3 massive game in 7 days and they looked shot. Combined with Liverpool wanting revenge for the cup defeat at the weekend and from the first whistle City couldn't match their workrate and desire. A poor performance from City and a good performance from Liverpool, but I don't think you can make any huge judgements off the back of it, barring saying that's now 3 league games on the spin City have lost.
They even tried lumping it up to Aguero in desperation towards the end. Great player though he is- they could do that all day and get nowhere.
