A striker's job is to stick the ball in the net, what the entire side manage in terms of their defending is beyond his control.

A 30 goal a season striker is 2x the worth of a 15 goal a season striker.

Striker can have far more impact than just scoring goals. To also and Madrid are prime example. Their forwards are lazy, he scores plenty of goals but their lack of work rate allows other teams to attack them more and score more goals against.

Teams defend from the front and having a striker who scores less but offers more in terms of defensive work rate, running the corners, holding the ball etc can have more of an effect.

If you seriously think a 15 goal a season striker who somehow only manages to score in 1-0 victories lol - is worth more than a striker who bangs in 30 a season, then you need to go and give your head a ****ing wobble.

1. every time just turns up its popcorn out and its very funny cos i am seeing everyone just playing the same line and getting the same bites form him.

2. I think i can boil the striker thing down to this; lukaku is ****e.. lets just boil it down to that and be done with it

 

You'd rather a striker score 6 against Young Boys then go out the next round as opposed to one who scored 5 goals to progress through all ties

A striker who needs the entire team working to put the ball on a plate is far less useful than one who makes their own chances and allows the rest to be defensively solid.

The correlation clearly shows Lukaku scoring means no clean sheet and the corrollary that Everton keeping a clean sheet means no Lukaku goal, which is why he so rarely scores an important "1-0" goal.

 

I guess that's the different between our teams. Yours is a selling club so a player scoring 30 even if it doesn't have a huge impact on results will get you more money, where as as were a club looking for trophies, we'd prefer a striker that has a greater impact in terms of results, someone whose goals actually make a difference to the result

And all of this still doesn't take into account the significant number of penalties and red cards he won
