I suppose we expected a hard game with spurs up top and us down the bottom but its still disappointing to know what we could play like once not to long ago and have to put up with struggling now ? A lot that's gone on behind the scenes has hampered us this season and the anticipated boost the new gaffa was expected to bring hasn't quite kicked in yet. There is still time and hope to stay up and sort this seasons mess out in the summer, it was good to see pos getting a goal so a generous 45% happy with today's effort, must do better B minus.
After Arsenal, we have 3 "Cup Finals" in succession - anything less than 7 points from those games and the writing will be on the wall .... However, to get at least 2 wins we have to attack and score goals ........ Personally, I would rather lose games after "giving it a go" and attacking the opposition
Which is what we should have done today. I think the boards objectives to Guido are to just keep us up, whatever it takes. I hope to God, whether we stay up or go down, Guido will be gone at the end of the season.
We need a mass culling at the end of the season, to a point I see us needing to change at least 7 to 8 positions.
Looking at our transfers of late , barring Paloschi .....Tabanou , Eder , Naughton and Fer and they're lack of inclusion and loss of money . The hiring and firing of managers in a 5 week period after promises of Curtis running the team till seasons end . The Dyer fiasco ... Monk's gift of a 3 year contract , fired within 6 months and buyout . Vorm's court case last month and it being said we would hear the result of that case in Febuary ....and not hearing anything .... And if we don't hear anything then you can count on we payed money with a clause no one can say anything like we don't hear much from the club in their new found cloud of secrecy. It's the issues with changing the way the board conducts it's business that is more pressing than what players and managers must change .... Things that bring non confidence in the team and managers are of a direct result of the board and club's activities imo
I'm not sure about a rebuild. We have a very good squad and most proved it last season. How can anyone say that Siggy, Ayew, Ki & Ash aren't decent players? Throw in the likes of Barrow, Routledge and Britton, I just can't see why we are playing so badly. But I do think our shape, team selection and sub decisions are all wrong. We obviously have a guy at the helm who doesn't like to take chances and go for it. That may be fine away from home against good opposition where we might get lucky and win it but we also seem timid at home. If he doesn't play to our strengths in the next two home games those results could see us relegated.
I think we need a new LB, RB, CB (if Amat isn't going to get the chance to establish himself), one or two wingers (depending on Monty and or Ayew leaving), a long term replacement for Leon (hopefully Joe) and another striker to challenge Palo for the starting spot. I make that a good 5-6 players.
Guess it all depends on who will be in charge of the team. If we stay up, I wouldn't be surprised to see Brendan return. If we get relegated, not sure who will be in charge. After today, though, I doubt it will be Signor Guidolin.....
At least the Ospreys seem to be building for the future http://www.ospreysrugby.com/News/Article/44206
For me the huge disappointment today was that Guidolin was too petrified to go for the second goal. The trap door is open and we've got a leg in it. If we're not more positive we'll be through it in a couple of weeks.
Worrying habit giving up 1-0 leads. Like others have said, didn't expect much today but when you get a goal up, you would hope to get something. Tendency to sit back on slender lead is too risky, our defence will always give opposition chances. Tate on the radio said we lacked an outlet... In the past we would have used a speedy winger to take pressure. Also keep taking Leon off when we need someone to regain and keep the ball seems silly.
Id happily take Brendan back in the summer. At least with him we know what we get. Guido just doesn't seem capable of adapting to the Prem
He doesn't seem capable of going for a win or encouraging his team to attack. Makes you wonder why he used to show his teams videos of us when we were at our best in this league.
