Best team won - we were really poor in the second half. So unhappy about how we played the second half because we created nothing.
To be fair we were playing an in form Chelsea. Disappointed with the second half of course, but we move on to Bournemouth.
Maybe would need to look at why we were so poor in the second half - could it be that Pelle didn't replace Long in effort or attitude?
Hope long is ok. Pelle is not the same player, didn't see match but sounds like hes playing as though he doesn't want to be here. And mane just not the same threat these days. Anyone see the game please give an assessment our strike force.
Disappointing result but Chelsea are a team in form with some absolutely brilliant players in their midst. We dropped off 2nd half which allowed those players to do what they do best unfortunately. Oh well we learn and move on. I'm confident we'll bounce back and continue our top 6 challenge. Romeu MOTM easily, was absolutely everywhere doing the scrappy, physical, ugly DM work. Congrats to Fraser on the club record. Errrrrrr i mean...arghlblargh...bollocks...koeman out and flt out...****e subs/tactics/ref...*consternation*..
I thought Mane looked a threat when he came on, and perhaps was a better option than Pelle who was isolated. Didn't really feel Austin got involved much in the second half either. I think the gap between our midfield and attack was too great and we just kept losing possession. Disappointing but Chelsea have a good team who have finally remembered how to play!
I predicted a defeat, as a club with got some consistent form in winning at Stamford Bridge but losing the home game - our last three away wins against Chelsea have resulted in home defeats in the return game. Doesn't make any sense but it's as good as any reason. I hope this doesn't affect the players confidence - I know it will our fickle fans
Just a terrible decision to bring on Pelle. Wait till FLT gets on here to talk about his flicks! Game changing decision, under no pressure till then. Chelsea had a lot of possession but ran around in circles. A game that was there for the taking.
People are doing everything BUT looking at why we were poor in the second half. Forster screwed up badly on the first goal. Free header in the box for the second. Those are mistakes. Nothing to do with Long or Pelle. Chelsea played well. Hazard looked like he did last year. The goal they gave up was a bad mistake as well. It was a relatively close game. Chelsea was only at their best for parts of the match, but when they are at their best, they are better than us. Can't give away cheap goals, and today we gave away two. It happens. Can't win them all.
Thought Austin was pretty poor at times second half, a lot of the flicks that lost the ball were him not Pelle as the commentators tried to say
Fair assessment I'd say. Unfortunately we handed them the extra confidence they needed, and we could of seen the game out. There were positives though, Oriol and Jordy for a start. Hurts a little to loose again, but we'll be back.
I thought we might lose, but got my hopes up as time went by. However not going to get upset about it...we've had a good run and close games can as easily be a loss as a win. The team have earned our tolerance and patience....these things happen. It is good we have a midweek game to move on to.
Sorry but it was Pelle who gave the ball away as he manaaged to do with his first 5 or 6 touches. You can't afford to do that against Chelsea. True we still had a number of chances to stop the goal but if one player is constantly giving the ball away, it can't help. Funny thing is we sit quite close to the bench and we were convinced that Ron shouted for "Sadio". But Pelle caught his eye and pointed to himself and Ron nodded. Surely not!
