If like myself you've spent half of your life outside of Hull its reassuringly mixed in a ethnic way. I do get some people don't like that, but for me and my kids I do like that. It has its problems with crime and busy boozed up weekends from the villages but generally its a nice mix of different mainly articulate people. I can't think of any other place I'd want to live in/around Hull.
