I thought we played a good game tbh. Controlled the ball, created lots of chances, but failed to put one away. The second half wasn't as good as the first but I think we played well in general, particularly given it was a selection of players not that used to playing together. A bit unlucky not to get the win I thought.
Eldin Jakupovic made 11 saves, the most by a single keeper in a match against Arsenal this season. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35622861
That doesn't mean anything. It's not exactly hard to save a shot that is hit straight at you or that lacks power. The save from Campbell's free-kick was the only save I actually would tip my hat off to him for. The rest was down to bad finishing in front of goal.
People seem to think that opposition goalkeepers always have 'worldies' against us at The Emirates and that they always seem to find a way to save all our shots on goal. The reality is, whilst some of these saves are good, the large majority is down to our players not being ruthless enough in front of goal. We don't have any reliable goalscorers in the team at the moment and anyone that says otherwise is talking nonsense. We either need to work on our shooting and finishing more in training or bring in players that actually know where the back of the net is. Regardless, I'm sick to death of complaining about the same things for the last 6/7 years - one of which is our profligacy in front of goal.
http://www.not606.com/threads/fa-cup-arsenal-v-hull-city.323762/page-11 I've posted some information about replay dates that may interest your fans. Post 215.
I don't know why anyone would think that, in the vast majority of games at the Emirates we score at least one goal. Every now and then we fail to score at home but it certainly doesn't happen very often.
We have failed to score in 26% of our 19 home games. For a team with an attacking style of play containing a team with Ozil and Sanchez in, that is a poor statistic. I'll wait for you to dress it up as a positive though, especially as 26% is 'not very often' according to you. 30 goals in 19 home games is also a cr@p statistic... Conceding 13 so a home GD of +17. In total 43 goals scored at the Emirates this season. (Last season after 19 home games, we'd scored 43 and conceded 17 so had a home GD of +26... so 60 goals being scored at the emirates). Spurs have been quite shy at home this season but even they have 35 goals in 18 home games conceding 16 so a home GD of +19 and in total 51 goals at WHL. City have 54 goals in 20 home games, conceding 25 so a home GD of +29 and 79 goals at the Etihad. United have 25 goals in 19 home games, conceding 7 so a home GD of +18. They've not scored in 7 home games, only two more than us. At 37% is that also classed as 'not very often'? United have a better home GD than we do. If there's one stat to tell we are being poor at home that is it.
The first one should have been yes but the second one Meyler 100% got the ball, I don't see how it is even up for debate. Aside from that Welbeck was not booked when he dived 10 minutes after Maguire was for EXACTLY the same thing, can you explain how that fits into the agenda of refs always being against you? What about the fact that Koscielny lunged in on a yellow and the feeling amongst commentators/neutrals was unanimously that he should definitely have been sent off? How about when Aluko was called offside and proceeded to put the ball in the back of the net, then the replay showed he was clearly on? Some Arsenal fans really need to get over themselves regarding refereeing decisions. It happens with fans of a lot of big teams. You are not being hard done by, you just choose to ignore everything that goes your way and whinge about everything that doesn't.
Ignoring all the other stuff you've posted that is irrelevant to the point I made (not that you haven't made thought out points and bothered to back it up with stats, which I appreciate!), we have played 20 home games this season, in four of those games we have failed to score - 20%, not 26%. One of the games was the Liverpool game that we did actually score a perfectly good goal that was disallowed. That leaves 3 games from 20 that we haven't scored any goals at home this season. However you want to dress it up, that isn't very often. Two of those games came in the first 3 games of the season, which means in the last 7 months only twice have we failed to score at home, only once prior to the hull game... It isn't very often.
Hull, Southampton, Chelsea, West ham, Liverpool. I know counting is sometimes hard but I think that's five. Or is it four?? I need to use my fingers... And unless sky sports has an error we've played 19 home games.
Aha, missed the Chelsea game! Must have attempted to wipe that one from my memory I'm using transfermarkt for my game stats, it's got 20 home games but I'll re-check! Either way it doesn't happen very often, we are splitting hairs over a single game. Edit: I know why it's saying 20 games, it's got the community shield as a home game ffs! my bad! Edit 2: p.s. What's with the sarcasm? Lol
Yep I missed the Chelsea game, so it's happened 3 times in the last 7 months, I still wouldn't call that often.
I'm sorry what agenda? All I said was that two fouls in the box should have been pens 1. Welbeck was taken out, and 2. where Meyler took Chambers out from behind and after going through him hit the ball. The handball was debatable and imo wasn't a pen even though he moved into it with his hand out, I always give the benefit to the defender as it was hit hard and moving fast. Even you agree with the 1st one, so why you think I'm promoting some kind of agenda is weird? I will add that I have only seen the highlights - most of which consistsed of shots and those penalty appeals, it didn't even show the kos tackle most people are going on about. Aluko looked on, but everyone had stopped way before he got in a position to shoot, so you can hardly say that he definitely scored when everyone just stopped going for the ball.
Meyler got the ball AFTER going through the back of Chambers. Therefore a pen. And the Koscielny almost second yellow, replays show he made absolutely no contact with the Hull player. Whilst it was a stupid lunge to make, no contact means it was a dive. And Aluko, it was clear to see that one leg was offside. By the letter of the law that is offside and so was a correct decision.
