Off Topic Mafia game: The island

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by moreinjuredthanowen, Feb 8, 2016.

  1. I like the complicated ones but more so as a townie that knows little or nothing. As a bad guy in more complicated games you have to watch your step more because there is a much bigger mine field.

  3. The mrs (nm) works from 5pm to 8pm (ish - she could finish twenty minutes early). She doesn't drive so I have to fetch her, kids and all. Add work and football into the equation and that's why it's so difficult for me to say when I will and won't be on. We all know I'm on here a lot but it's never at set times.

We could have a 8pm cut off point deadline and I'd count and do the night actions around 10pm still

I really enjoyed this one. I think part of that though is the focus I had every day on doing the investigations.I love stuff where we're looking for clues and solving mysteries. The down side for me was that I then got so caught up looking for clues that I completely ignored behaviour on the first two days. Once I knew I had protection every night (from the shard) I started trying to be more random with accusing people and in the hope I would be targeted for the kill. I even tried poking jibes at you and Valley in the hope that the dead would target me too. I was hoping some of the responses might give me clues about people's alignments too - but they didn't. I think by then the guards were in such a strong position cos of the location thing that they didn't need to give anything away.

I agree that it was much harder to read for signs giving away roles, simply because we didn't know what the roles were. It's always a really hard balance in a hidden game where one team knows nothing and the other does, when it comes to giving clues. When you know something then everything seems so obvious but the clues can be easily missed if you don't know what you're looking for.

Yeah you're almost playing your own little game working out clues etc which is good. Just personal preference that's all <ok>

Agree it's hard to try and make a balanced game when hidden so hats off to MITO, lot of effort went into it. Just find that in sometimes trying to make it so complicated and intrinsic that can sometimes make it too much.

It's good that we're building up such a variety of these games now. There's quite a few different formulas about that are all very different with the traditional mafia games, hidden games, zombie games and the wild west ones. It makes it harder to get too used to how people play the games.

I thought you could read but not post (by choice)

It confused me when you didn't respond to my post #49

    <cheers> nice game @moreinjuredthanowen

The hidden rules and mysteries made it very interesting, and good for trying to confuse people

I was having more fun with the clues and theories about the direction and paying almost no attention to working out the normal parts of the game

I felt it was coming to an end so today I did look to work out who the warden was and posted it on the board (there were 3 hints but I won't share if @G'inho doesn't want)

I would like something like this setup again, though the work put into it is insane

  12. If you read the warden board, you'll see what I got and how frustrating it was

Yes RHC you were consistently right on direction.

    logical wasn't it.. not hard

    .........................

    I just want to say:

The numbers were 3 guards v 2 town with the deaths and recruit at the end

    however.

The mechanics and votes were such that nev was protecting nolberto and switched. the dead were killing astro anyway and so was nolberto

It could have been 2 guard team v 4 town and the recruit option could have made it 3v3

If the dead had chosen to hit gerrez again... even worse 1 v 4 with recruit making it 2v3

If the 3v3 occured nolberto would have been awarded a day time kill.

If the 2v3 had occured there would have been an extra day.

Nope - it was my turn to have a completely undeserved win this time!!! <laugh>

Got to say, I've never had to work so hard for a (moral) defeat. I managed to protect bad guys on 3 of the 4 days and then got the other bad guy killed off to seal victory.

    Spectacular!! <doh>
