Watford v Leeds. please log in to view this image Not long until Wembley, If you are a dreamer. You can almost see it there on the horizon, nearly. There are only 16 teams left in the cup, 2 wins and well the semi-finals await! QSF knows we are dreaming about it! http://www.wdsport.co.uk/2016/02/quique-we-know-the-fans-are-dreaming-about-the-fa-cup/ Fans know it would be the cherry on top of surviving in the Prem cake, and let´s face it, not looking too unlikely at the moment! http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...to_Wembley_would_cap_off_this_special_season/ Leeds stand in Watford´s way this round, they need to be dealt with first before a favourable next round draw and then the semi-finals, which I believe is at Wembley, then anything is possible. Andy Gray isn´t playing so might get to win this one! One round at a time mind, and no half cut performances will get us through against Leeds. For the returining https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toumani_Diagouraga, if he plays. ¡¡ENJOY THE GAME, MORE TEAM NEWS TO FOLLOW!! ¡¡¡COYH COYH COYH!!!
Thanks for the thread Mex. I forced myself to watch Leeds tonight just in case QSF wanted a few tips on how they play. Physical, press high, use the offside trap a lot, and try to stop the keeper getting near the ball at corners. Because they press so high they leave lots of space behind their defence which a speed merchant could exploit to great effect. They hung on for a draw because a lino got it wrong ruling out a good Boro goal. Leeds ran around a lot, usually because they were chasing one of their misplaced passes. Because of all the running most of the players looked all in after 70 minutes. Very much a mid-table Championship side.
Nice one Mex - If I could I would give you 5*'s. Absolutely spot on OFH, exactly my thoughts about the dirty one's. That Lino was so far behind the play, there is no way he could have seen that the ball was out. Really looking forward to the game but not the dirty Leeds supporters - they really are a hideous bunch. Going for a 3-1 Watford win - got in before H did.
I got cornered by a couple yesterday... could have been ugly... Luckily they were working on my son's house and just having me on..... Easily done though.....It's been quite a few years since that happened to me seriously... They think they have zero chance all round and are mightily fed up with their owner, losing decent players and the manager merry go round etc etc Keep em down i say!
Steve Evans wants a draw. http://www.insidefutbol.com/2016/02...d-says-leeds-united-boss-steve-evans/270606/? I wonder if that means that they will try and play defensively?
Great thread Mex, thanks muchly! I do think we could trip up against Leeds and yes, their fans aren't very pleasant so the atmosphere will be good if we can sell out, which atm seems unlikely in the home end, which is a shame. Because w-y has gone for my (yes, MY!) 3-1 ( ) i'm going to go for 4-2, just coz! They will probably be brutal and i hope they don't injure any of our key players on our way to victory! Just can't see us losing this one, kiss of death? The great thing about this is that though i would dearly love to win, it's a week when the pressure is relatively off, because, great as it is to have a cup run, the league is all important til we get those 40 points. (Ask me again when we're holding on at 85 minutes and i might give you a different perspective!)
I noticed on the Watford ticket website there are still loads of seats available to home fans ... I'm really looking forward to watching the game and surprised many fellow hornets are likely to give this one a miss . From what I have read , Leeds allocation is only 4100 and sold out almost instantly ..a shame if they are not permitted to fill the entire stand ( it makes for a better atmosphere and brings in more pennies ) . Watched Leeds against Boro on Monday , they looked no mugs ...I doubt it will be an easy game and would be happy with any win .
I really struggle to understand why we have not sold out yet for this game. Friend of mine has got a very low buying history and I logged on to get him a ticket last Thursday when it opened for that category. When I checked in The Rookery, there were loads of seats available, but there are very very few (if any) for league games and I always assumed that was because The Rookery was all ST holders. Does this mean that a lot of ST holders have not booked their own seat? Surely after all these years they must realise they have to book their own seats? Very strange
I'm a non season ticket holder , but have been to most games in the past year ...I really struggle to get decent tickets as they usually sell fast . The Rookery is mostly season ticket holders .Personally I think a fair number of season ticket holders just go through the motions , there seems to be little passion or excitement in them . I watch far too many games on Sky ( first year of this ) I'm often amazed that a significant percentage of "fans" who leave their seat 10 minutes before a game ends , even if it is a tight match or their side is winning . It will be quite embarrassing if there are loads of empty seats on Saturday .. Leeds fans and team will be up for this game . I hope we start with our strongest team on the pitch . Too many changes and a passionate Leeds following behind their side could combine for an "upset" . I see this as a battle between Sleeping giants ( badly run club ) against perennial over achievers ( a very well run club ) . Watford supporters please get down to the Vic and make some noise this coming Saturday ..Don't want to experience the Vic of years back when away supporters took over the place . This one could be a great game with a terrific atmosphere . Saw the usual nonsense comment on one of their forum sites about us being "soft southern shirt lifter's " ..let's give 'em a match and out roar them ..... you 'orns !
As Leeds get ready for their "cup Final" just a nice memory. What a crisp strike for the second goal, really broke the onion bag!
Wikipedia says capacity is 5800 . I wonder if there is an arrangement with the sponsors , who have their scribble on the sheets , which means they have to be in place at the expense of bums on seats ? Don't remember the sheeting in place for the Newcastle FA cup game .
Chris Wood will be given until tomorrow to prove his fitness for Leeds United’s FA Cup tie at Watford with head coach Steve Evans anxious to re-involve the club’s “main man”. Evans said the striker was rated “50-50” to overcome a hamstring strain and make United’s squad for Saturday’s fifth-round tie at Vicarage Road with Leeds continuing to want for goals.
Hornets defender Miguel Britos and attacking midfielder Jose Manuel Jurado are doubts for this Saturday’s FA Cup fifth round clash with Leeds United at Vicarage Road. Both players missed the weekend victory over Crystal Palace due to a dead leg and a calf problem respectively. Neither have trained this week but Hornets boss Quique Sanchez Flores told the press this morning that he expected the duo to take part in today’s session. He said: “Britos suffered a hard kick against Tottenham. He had a dead leg so he couldn’t work. In the last few days he has improved a lot. “Jurado had a little problem in his calf but they will both go to the training pitch today. They will train softly. We will see after that.”
