Do you like it mate? As a sport? I've never really watched a full match, just bits and bobs here and there.

No big transfers in a_ league. Man city own melb city but it's the equivalent of lower championship footy/ league 1 at best

It's ok, being a league fan I like the big hits and biff. Afl is a pansies game more suited to marathon runners. The competition isn't very tight, a lot of lop sided games unlike the NRL. Still I keep tabs and know the top 8

The Australian Football League (AFL) used to be the Victorian Football League (VFL) as Aussie says it's massive around here but smaller elsewhere as rugby and cricket is prevalent. There's expansion teams in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia though. The highest paid player in the league left a vic based team for Queensland a few years ago. The team are a ****ing mess though, lots of money and no success. Much like the side I support.

Only two of the league's players earned over $1m (£450k) last year. No transfers, trades and drafts and such.

It's bizarre. They don't seem to support the team local to them in Melbourne. They seem to pick teams to support at random.

Interestingly a predominant sports journo in the US decided that the greatest father and son combination to dominate any sport, anywhere in the world are the Ablett lads in the AFL.

Don't knock fans from far fetched corners of the world, they'll be (part of) the difference between a £110m turnover and a £510m turnover. <ok>

It's only worth more when it's not being spent by a total ****ing toad like Ed Woodward mind.

It's like having a 12" cock and a face like the elephant man at the minute.

I think a lot of it is to do with the ones who travel... End up in Europe... End up in London. So they pick a team to support nearby and it seems to be spurs.

I like the irony of it! Not to mention the comforts of my home are smack bang in Collingwood.
